Erika Kirk has announced that she will meet privately with political commentator Candace Owens, marking the first direct, in-person conversation between the two following weeks of public discussion and disagreement that arose after the assassination of her husband, Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.
Kirk shared the update Sunday in a brief statement on X, saying both women had agreed to pause all public commentary until after the meeting.
“Candace Owens and I are meeting for a private, in-person discussion on Monday, December 15,” Kirk wrote. “@RealCandaceO and I have agreed that public discussions, livestreams, and tweets are on hold until after this meeting. I look forward to a productive conversation. Thank you.”
The planned discussion comes after a period of mounting tension between Kirk and Owens, who worked for Turning Point USA and had a personal and professional relationship with the Kirk family years ago. In recent weeks, the two have found themselves on opposite sides of a public dispute fueled by online speculation and conspiracy theories surrounding Charlie Kirk’s assassination, largely championed by Owens.
At a recent CBS town hall, Erika Kirk spoke emotionally about the toll such speculation has taken on her and her family. When asked what she would say to those spreading unfounded claims, she responded simply, “Stop. That’s it. That’s all I have to say. Stop.”
She echoed those sentiments during a Dec. 10 appearance on Fox News’ Outnumbered, pushing back against online figures she accused of profiting from accusations against people close to her late husband. “When you go after my family, my Turning Point USA family, my Charlie Kirk Show family, when you go after the people that I love, and you’re making hundreds and thousands of dollars every single episode going after the people that I love because somehow they’re in on this, no,” she said.
As a result, the relationship between Kirk and Owens has deteriorated despite their earlier collaboration and friendship.
The decision to meet privately appears to reflect an effort to de-escalate tensions, address misunderstandings directly, and move the conversation out of the public arena.
Since her husband’s death, Erika Kirk — who now leads Turning Point USA — has focused publicly on preserving Charlie Kirk’s legacy while navigating the personal and public challenges that have followed the tragedy.
