Donald Trump sat down for a wide-ranging interview with influencer and professional boxer Jake Paul in a nearly 30-minute conversation posted Friday on Paul’s YouTube channel.

The discussion was recorded while Trump was visiting Kentucky for a campaign rally earlier in the week and covered topics ranging from sports and politics to the July 13, 2024 assassination attempt against the president at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

During the interview, Paul asked Trump about the moment he was shot during the incident.

“Was it like hot on your ear?” Paul asked. “Could you feel the bullet?”

Trump described the aftermath of the shooting, explaining that he quickly realized something serious had happened.

“You had that throbbing feeling. You knew there was something,” Trump said. “It was a bloody mess. The ear bleeds more… I said, ‘Why is there so much blood?’ And the ear is a big bleeder having to do with cartilage.”

Trump added that he initially checked his ear by touching it and seeing the blood.

“So when I checked, I put my hand up… I brought it down and it was loaded up,” he said. “So I said, ‘That’s either the biggest mosquito bite in history or I just got shot.’ And it was not a pleasant experience.”

The interview also touched on the administration’s military operation against Iran, known as Operation Epic Fury.

Paul praised Trump for the strikes and suggested many people in Iran supported the move.

“I commend you for your bravery,” Paul said. “I think so many Iranians do as well… I was shocked that so many activists in America didn’t like it.”

Trump responded by criticizing Iran’s human rights record, referencing punishments imposed by the country’s government on LGBTQ individuals.

“‘We support gays, but they throw gays off the buildings,’” Trump said.

At one point in the conversation, Paul asked Trump who he would choose to be if he could be reincarnated as any historical figure.

“That’s a very interesting question. Maybe Donald Trump,” the president replied. “I think Donald Trump right now. My life is very exciting.”

The discussion also briefly turned to politics and Paul’s future. The YouTuber told Trump he has considered the possibility of running for office someday. Trump previously brought Paul on stage during the Kentucky rally and gave him what he described as a preemptive endorsement.

The appearance marked the second time Trump has appeared in a major interview with the Paul brothers. In June 2024, he also spoke with Jake’s brother, Logan Paul, on the popular podcast Impaulsive.
