Geraldo Rivera Uses Final Fox News Appearance To Applaud Affirmative Action

-

In what was almost certainly his last appearance on , lamented the end of race-based in college admissions.

“I'm a product of affirmative action over half a century ago,” Rivera, 79, explained. (RELATED: Supreme Court Ruling Undermines Corporate Wokeness)

The longtime television personality and host appeared on “Fox & Friends” Friday morning to discuss his five-decade career.

The Independent reports:

“I'm deeply touched, I'm honoured, I love Fox, I love the people at Fox, I always will,” he said. “I'll never let anyone separate us, but I am beyond grateful for this. This is so deeply affecting, I love you for it, thank you.”

While hosts on the network had praised the Supreme Court ruling, Mr. Rivera took another stance.

“Well, I thank you for the opportunity, because affirmative action has just been voted down by the Supreme Court of the United States and [it's] a very controversial decision that will impact many people of colour,” he said. “I was a product of affirmative action over half a century ago.”

“When the Ford Foundation and Columbia Journalism School got together to integrate the local news teams in , there were no Black reporters, no Hispanic reporters, no women, and it was shocking,” he added. “And that was as late as 1968, '69. So I was selected.”

Preliminary reporting stated that Rivera quit “The Five.” In a Twitter video on Thursday, he clarified that he was fired and “as a result of that, I quit Fox.” (RELATED: Fox News Personality Warns Of ‘Danger To America' If Trump Loses In 2024)

American Liberty News reported at the time:

“It has been a rocky ride, but it has also been an exhilarating adventure that spanned quite a few years,” Rivera, 80, told the Associated Press after news he was leaving “The Five” broke.

It's unclear what Rivera will do next. Responding to an online critic who recently asked why he wouldn't retire quietly, the 52-year showbiz vet said, “the problem with retiring though is my restless energy when it concerns issues important to the American people.” He then posted a shirtless selfie.

  1. he has a different opinion than me when it comes to aa. but that is ok to disagree in a civil manner.

  2. Geraldo didn’t have to tell us he was the product of affirmative action. We already knew!

    • Gerry Ravaras was obviously a product of affirmative action when he started on the news in New York. He was a dud then and he is now. He probably thinks no one remembers him as the token Hispanic with an anglicized name.

  3. I was a victim of affirmative action back in 1971, when I came home from Vietnam, I took the test for fireman and there were somewhere around 200 applicants taking the test with me. I scored in the top percentile and when I went down to the human resources they told me they were sorry but they have to hire 20 blacks first. I asked when I could expect to be hired and she said, “you better start looking for another job” This was devastating to me and I wondered why I even bothered to take the test. TRUE STORY!

    • The same as my daughter. Teacher, but unfortunately white in spite of much higher educations than another girl, east Indian.

    • I believe you. My husband came home one day from his job, and told me that his company has to hire more engineers, but they need to hire blacks first! This was many, many years ago, the 70’s. Forget about talent or intellect, they concentrate on color!! Good luck with that!!

      • It is exactly what is wrong in America and that is why America is in a down hill slide. Putting people in a job because of gender or color is a way to destroy any industry, your not getting the best and Geraldo is a perfect example of what happens, he’s ok, but truthfully I’ve never turned the tv on to watch Geraldo, this happens way to often in America

    • Same with me, just back from Vietnam, applied for a lineman job at the phone company in Denver. They told me they had operator positions open but all new line positions would be filled by females.

  4. Thank God, Geraldo is gone! He’s bug BLOWHARD!! I gave up Fox when Tucker left and since it’s still sinking! Have no intention of returning to Fox. Love NEWSMAX!!

  5. Many times I got blown out of a job because I was white. It was the time of equal opportunity employment and Helen Ready just burned her bra. Its the real reason why I went to work for myself. The white hats were walking around with female leadmen who didnt know anything beside manipulating men. I am a self-made man and in most jobs, I was a supervisor or Forman. I dropped one of my businesses and decided to go to work for the state. Here I had 30 years of tractor-trailer overhead crane hyster driver sandblasting.I started building houses from the ground up at age 13. A job was open for bridge work I would use all of these skills. It was only 1/2 mile to work. I own a 55+ mobile home park that brings in $150,000.00 a year. Everything was secure so I was looking for something to do that had health insurance. Lo and behold the head of the Oregon State Department wrote me a letter. She thanked me for applying for the position of bridge worker. They hired someone with more experience than I had. That was almost impossible so I went to the bridge crew foreman and inquired. The state hired a pimpled-faced black kid that knew nothing about what was going on. I got mad and phoned the state department. I talked to the woman in charge and told her who I was. I told her what I found out what she had done. She was dumbfounded when I told her I was going to sue her for her lying. I had spent my life driving my owner/operator tractor-trailer with no accidents. Building houses with the rest of it. This was totally degrading to me personally and it was racist. What I have found out is an employer doesnt want anyone intelligent with proper work skills. They want to be able to tell you what they want you to do. They will also take credit and benefit from your innovative ideas Most of my application test scores were in the mid-90%. I am the type of person who will question everything. As most of you know the person you are working for is the bosss son. If not its someones hairball primadonna relation you have to kiss their hazz. You heard it from Geraldo he was bought and paid for. He knows nothing about how the real world works. Get bent Geraldo. I am a multimillionaire with properties from Southern Oregon to Alaska. Starting out it was rough but I ended up doing things my way. The majority of people do not have the mentality or work skills to do this. I thank GOD for the intelligence that he has bestowed upon me. Life at it`s best is seldom fair. I will not have to listen to the leftist U- Boy anymore.

  6. Geraldo is evidence of the sort of person who was hired because of affirmative action…mediocre, out-of-touch, and biased. We don’t need this. Good for the court in putting a stop to it.

  7. When SCOTUS rules against the right, we piss and moan and ask why we have idiots on SCOTUS, but we don’t discuss packing or impeachment. We may suggest a decision is unconstitutional, and sometimes a later court overrules a previous decision. Still, only the left wants to change the whole system or speaks of congressional oversight, not comprehending that would require a constitutional amendment.

  8. we are constantly told by the left how the 2nd amend is outdated and needs to be abolished.

well the same can be said about AA. it has become abusive. it has long outlived its usefulness when it discriminates.
