House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) is already at the precipice but his chances of winning the Speaker’s gavel may have gotten even dicier.
Victoria Spartz (R-Ind.) appeared on Fox & Friends Monday morning and refused to commit to voting for Johnson, who has a razor-thin opening to get the necessary votes from his Republican caucus with only a four-seat GOP majority in the House. Fox & Friends co-host Will Cain opened the interview by asking Spartz , “Why are you not committed to Speaker Johnson as the next speaker of the House?”
“Well, I’ll tell you, will I look at people, a track record. And unfortunately, we will not be able to deliver on President Trump’s agenda as the same happened in 2016, because it has to be done legislatively,” she explained. “If we don’t have a speaker with the courage, vision and the plan, and if Speaker Johnson wants to be speaker, then he needs to lay out the plan and commit to that plan, not like what he did last year. ”
“He committed on the House floor to have a fiscal commission,” she continued. “So we have a plan for debt ceiling increase, which President Trump is right about. We have no plan. He was afraid to put it on the floor. He was afraid to put a budget on the floor except post office bill, but could not accomplish anything,” she added. “So I can give him a chance, but I would like to hear from him how he is going to be delivering this agenda and what plan he has. And he hasn’t been doing it.”

Following the Fox News interview, Spartz issued a follow-up message on X.
Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) has already come out as a “no” vote on Speaker Johnson’s reelection bid, putting the Louisiana Congressman in a precarious position.
However, days before Friday’s leadership vote President-elect Donald Trump offered his “total” endorsement of Mike Johnson which will likely help shore up support among some waffling Republicans.
“Speaker Mike Johnson is a good, hard working, religious man. He will do the right thing, and we will continue to WIN. Mike has my Complete & Total Endorsement. MAGA!” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.
Other Republican lawmakers threatened to sink Johnson’s bid for Speaker over his handling of the government shutdown negotiations. (RELATED: Republicans Mull Mutiny Against House Speaker As Shutdown Looms)
“Everything’s got consequences,” Rep. Ralph Norman (R-S.C.) said when asked if Johnson’s handling of the CR would impact the January vote.
Multiple Republicans also suggested Elon Musk become the next Speaker of the House amid the negotiations.
Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) suggested Elon Musk serve as Speaker in a post on X following contentious debates over the continuing resolution (CR).
“The Speaker of the House need not be a member of Congress . . . ,” Paul wrote.
“Nothing would disrupt the swamp more than electing Elon Musk . . . think about it . . . nothing’s impossible. (not to mention the joy at seeing the collective establishment, aka ‘uniparty,’ lose their ever-lovin’ minds).”
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) said she would be open to supporting Musk to replace Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) in a post quoting Paul.
“I’d be open to supporting @elonmusk for Speaker of the House. DOGE can only truly be accomplished by reigning in Congress to enact real government efficiency,” Greene wrote on X.
It appears there are more RINOs in congress than we knew, they are about to negate Americas support of GOP.
NO to Musk as Speaker of the House – Keep him at DOGE or make him an Ambassador.
As to the next speaker, he must be 100% committed to Trump and MAGA. The reason McCarthy was ousted was he’s a RHINO. Is Mike Johnson also a RHINO?
