Megyn Kelly Explains How She Made Amends With Trump Despite Their Past

Megyn Kelly is no stranger to controversy — but her latest comments about President Donald Trump may come as a surprise to both her critics and fans. In a candid interview on The Stephen A. Smith Show, the former Fox News anchor revealed that she’s come full circle on Trump, going from fierce adversary to enthusiastic supporter.

Kelly, now a prominent SiriusXM host and podcast personality, admitted her shift didn’t happen overnight. In fact, she recalled the infamous nine-month period in 2015 when Trump publicly attacked her after she challenged him over what she called misogynistic remarks during a GOP primary debate.

“When he was attacking me for that nine-month period, I really was not his fan,” Kelly told Smith. “It was highly unpleasant.”

The feud reached its peak when Trump insinuated on CNN that Kelly’s tough debate questioning was due to menstruation, saying she had “blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her… wherever.” The comment drew widespread backlash — and cemented the perception of Trump as a man with no limits on personal attacks.

“There are people that still look at you to this very day and say, how could you support somebody that would talk about you that way?” Smith asked, alluding to the broader skepticism among women and independents still wary of Trump’s character.

Despite the past, she says she made a conscious decision to “check” her personal feelings in favor of what she saw as a strong, policy-driven leader.

“Professionally, I fell in love with Trump, the president, because I believed him that he would close the border,” she explained. “I believed that he would fight back against the gender madness… and get DEI out of our colleges and our woke schools.”

She contrasted this with what she described as the “disastrous” presidency of Joe Biden, arguing that Trump’s performance in office made a more meaningful impact than the insults that once drove a wedge between them.

Kelly’s tone was grounded and unapologetic. “I’m actually proud of it,” she said. “I’m 100% rooting for him. I’m thrilled I saw the light on him.”

When Trump returned to the campaign trail in 2024, Kelly actively campaigned for him. She appeared at several rallies, conducted friendly interviews on her show, and frequently defended his policies and rhetoric on cable news and social media. Following Trump’s successful reelection, Kelly has emerged as one of his most outspoken media allies, often using her platform to amplify his agenda and push back against critics within both mainstream media and the Republican establishment.
