After years of complaints about the former First Lady’s exclusion from the limelight, particularly in fashion media, Melania Trump is set to receive her moment in the spotlight—thanks to Amazon Prime and a newly announced biographical film.

The film, slated for a global release in theaters and streaming, will offer viewers an “unprecedented behind-the-scenes look” into Melania Trump’s life. The project is expected to hit screens in the latter half of 2025, following production that began in December 2024. Amazon Prime has licensed the documentary exclusively, which will also be available for streaming once it debuts.

Fox News Digital first reported on the development, confirming that the project will be executive produced by Melania Trump herself, alongside Fernando Sulichin of New Element Media. The film will be directed by Brett Ratner, the controversial filmmaker who largely disappeared from Hollywood after the #MeToo movement tarnished his career. Despite the controversies surrounding Ratner, Amazon is going forward with the project, with a promise of providing an intimate look at the life of the former First Lady.

“Melania Trump has a story that has yet to be told, and we are excited to share this truly unique story with our millions of customers around the world,” an Amazon Prime representative said in a statement. “We look forward to delivering this highly anticipated film.”

The news of Melania Trump’s upcoming documentary has already generated significant attention, especially in light of her history of being excluded from high-profile media platforms. Conservatives have long criticized the lack of recognition for Melania Trump during her husband’s presidency, especially in comparison to other First Ladies like Michelle Obama, who graced multiple magazine covers, including VogueTime, and Glamour, throughout her eight years in the White House.

While Melania Trump’s career as a fashion model had set her up to be a prominent figure in the media, she never seemed to earn the same level of visibility or praise. Major fashion magazines like Vogue have largely ignored her, with some questioning why she was never featured as their cover star—especially given her status as a former supermodel. Even conservative actor James Woods voiced frustration over the apparent media double standard, asking why Melania Trump had “never graced our nation’s major style magazine covers” despite her background.

In a recent interview on Fox News, she addressed the issue, making it clear that she has no interest in seeking out magazine covers during her time as First Lady—or beyond. “Look, I’ve been there on the covers—on the cover of Vogue, on the covers of many magazines before,” she explained. “We have so many other important things to do than to be on the cover of any magazine.”

Her statement aligns with her public persona—reserved, private, and focused on her work rather than cultivating a public image. Nevertheless, the upcoming documentary aims to provide an opportunity to explore her life and work in a more intimate and comprehensive manner, especially as she prepares to reenter the public eye as First Lady once again.

While some may view the partnership with Amazon as a way to shed light on Melania Trump’s life, it also signals the broader shift in how the tech and entertainment elite are positioning themselves with the Trump administration. Following Trump’s victory in the 2024 election, a number of high-profile business and tech leaders, including Bezos, have reportedly courted the president-elect seeking favorable positioning in the new political landscape.
