New Book Claims A-List Actor Erupted At MSNBC Producer After Morning Joe Clip

A-list actor George Clooney was reportedly furious after MSNBC’s coverage of his op-ed, which urged President Joe Biden to step down from the 2024 race, linked him to former President Barack Obama. The actor’s explosive reaction, according to sources, led to a heated exchange with an MSNBC producer and a breakdown of trust between the two.

Clooney’s op-ed, published in The New York Times, called on President Biden to bow out of the 2024 Democratic nomination, arguing that a change in leadership was needed to avoid a potential second term for former President Donald Trump. The piece generated immediate controversy, with critics later accusing the actor of playing a role in the very scenario he seemed to warn against—Trump’s return to the White House.

MSNBC host Mika Brzezinski weighed in on the op-ed during her program, suggesting that it was Barack Obama’s influence that led Clooney to make such a public call for Biden to step aside. According to Chris Whipple’s forthcoming book, “Uncharted: How Trump Beat Biden, Harris, and the Odds in the Wildest Campaign in History,” Brzezinski stated, “That wasn’t George Clooney. I think that Barack Obama has a lot of influence,” implying that it was the former president who convinced Clooney to pen the controversial piece.

This suggestion enraged Clooney, who allegedly confronted an MSNBC producer in an expletive-laden tirade. “How the f*** could you let her link me with Barack Obama saying he made me write the op-ed?” Clooney reportedly shouted, irate at the on-air claim.

Sources say Clooney expressed frustration not only with Brzezinski’s assertion but also with the producer, who was his personal friend. “You’re f***ing me… You’re my friend. You should have stood up for me,” Clooney allegedly added. The exchange grew more heated when the producer, who apparently disagreed with Clooney’s temper, responded, “This isn’t a movie,” before telling the actor that there was no script for political TV.

The back-and-forth escalated, with Clooney reportedly snapping, “F*** you!” The producer then shot back, “Go f*** yourself,” resulting in a complete breakdown of their professional relationship.

His op-ed came shortly after he had been involved in raising millions of dollars for Biden’s campaign, which complicated his position in the eyes of many within Hollywood and the political sphere. While some interpreted his plea for Biden’s withdrawal as a call for a more viable candidate, others believed it ultimately boosted Trump’s prospects for a second term.

Criticism of Clooney’s actions quickly reached a fever pitch, with some of his Hollywood colleagues accusing him of inadvertently playing into the hands of Trump’s campaign. Faced with such backlash, Clooney made the decision in November to “step back” from politics, signaling that the level of attention and criticism he received over his political interventions had become too much to manage.

While Clooney may seem like a convenient scapegoat for some, the idea that President Biden would have fared any better against Donald Trump in 2024 is arguably laughable. Internal polling within the Biden camp reportedly showed that he could have lost to Trump by an even larger margin, with some projections suggesting a staggering 400 electoral-vote defeat. The reality is that Clooney’s op-ed likely had a minimal impact on the outcome of the election, as neither Kamala Harris or Joe Biden would have been able to beat Donald Trump this time around.

Clooney was one of many celebrities to rally around Kamala Harris, only to find himself confronted with waning relevancy and influence as voters overwhelmingly rejected her star-studded campaign. Despite spending millions on performances and appearances from A-listers, voters moved decisively to the right in rejection of the Democrats and the Harris Campaign.
