Nice try…
As anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement protests continue across the country, former California Republican Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger joined the conversation with a guest appearance on “The View.” However, it’s clear he diverted from the popular liberal narrative when he refused to praise protestors defending illegal migrants.
“I just think the world of the great kind of history that we have with immigrants in America,” said the bodybuilder-turned-action star and former Republican governor of California on Tuesday.
“But the key thing also is, at the same time, that we got to do things legal — that is the important thing,” Schwarzenegger, who was born in Austria before immigrating to the U.S. in 1968, said when asked by “View” co-host Joy Behar whether he had a “visceral reaction” to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids.
“Those people that are doing illegal things in America, and they’re the foreigners, they are not smart,” Schwarzenegger, 77, said.
“Because when you come to America, you’re a guest, and you have to behave like a guest,” he continued. (RELATED: Trump Team Expands National Guard Presence In This Deep Blue City)
The comments, specifically his use of the term “legal” clearly stirred uncomfortable reactions from across the panel with multiple hosts attempting to chime in and cut off the former California Governor.
“Like when I go to someone’s house and I’m a guest, then I will do everything I can to keep things clean, and to make my bed and to do everything that is the right thing to do rather than committing a crime, or being abusive or something like that,” “The Terminator” actor said.
Immigrants come to the country, Schwarzenegger said, to “use America for the great opportunities that America has in education, in jobs, creating a family, all of those kind of things.”
“Then you have to think about, ‘OK, if I get all of those things from America, then I have to give something back,’” advised Schwarzenegger, who became a U.S. citizen in 1983.
“You have a responsibility as an immigrant to give back to America, and to pay back America, and to go and do something for your community for no money whatsoever,” he said.
“Give something back to after school programs, Special Olympics, or whatever it is — make this country a better place.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger, a legal immigrant, successful actor, and former California Governor, just left The View STUNNED.
They attempted to get him to condemn ICE raids and what did he do?
He credited America for his success, promoted legal… pic.twitter.com/IxtQVcKo6D
About two weeks ago, riots erupted just south of downtown Los Angeles after ICE conducted immigration sweeps in the city. They quickly spread north, leading to several nights of showdowns between law enforcement and unruly bad actors.

I complement Mr. Arnold Schwarzenegger for his beautiful comments he made on the View. He came to America as an immigrant, not an ILLEGAL immigrant, He created a wonderful life for himself and his beautiful family. Arnold didn’t destroy property and start fires like the ILLEGAL immigrants have done to Los Angeles and the rest of the country. He became a United States citizen in 1983. That’s a lot more than I can say for the ILLEGAL immigrants who come here and stay here forever and NEVER become LEGAL citizens and get everything for free. I hope the liberal members of the View understand what Arnold is saying! God Bless America!! Thank you, America, for what you have given us!!
