Nicki Minaj Joins Trump, Backs New “Trump Accounts” Proposal
Rapper Nicki Minaj made a high-profile political appearance Wednesday, sharing the stage with President Donald Trump and publicly declaring herself his “number one fan” during an event promoting a new child-focused financial initiative.
The event centered on the rollout of “Trump Accounts,” a proposal that would provide every newborn American with $1,000 invested in the stock market and accessible at age 18. During her remarks, Minaj brushed off criticism of the president and framed attacks against him as political bullying that only strengthened her resolve.
“The hate or what people have to say, it does not affect me at all,” Minaj said. “It actually motivates me to support him more.”
Minaj also announced plans to personally contribute between $150,000 and $300,000 to fund Trump Accounts—also known as Section 530A accounts—for her fans’ children, calling the initiative a way to give kids a “major head start in life.” Business investor Kevin O’Leary appeared alongside Trump and Minaj at the event.
The appearance marks another step in Minaj’s growing role in conservative politics. Over the past year, she has spoken at Turning Point USA events, criticized Democratic leaders, traveled to the United Nations with Ambassador Mike Waltz to address Christian persecution abroad, and increasingly embraced public support for Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance—despite backlash that she says has only affirmed her commitment.
Texas GOP Headquarters Targeted in Apparent Arson Attempt
In Texas, a 21-year-old woman has been arrested after allegedly breaking into the Comal County Republican Party headquarters and attempting to set the building on fire.
Police say employees arriving at the headquarters in New Braunfels discovered a broken window and a small fire inside the building. Grace Carol Brown was taken into custody and charged with arson and burglary. The FBI and the New Braunfels Fire Marshal assisted in the investigation.
Texas Republican Party Chairman Abraham George condemned the attack, calling it part of a troubling national pattern of politically motivated violence. He emphasized that no one was injured and praised local law enforcement for their swift response.
Republican National Committee Chairman Joe Gruters pointed to increasingly hostile political rhetoric as a contributing factor, warning that attacks on party offices undermine peaceful civic engagement.
The incident follows a series of similar attacks nationwide since Trump returned to office in January 2025, including arson at the New Mexico GOP headquarters, vandalism of a Republican office in Virginia, and an attempted arson in Kansas. Federal data show a sharp rise in political threats overall, with U.S. Capitol Police reporting nearly 15,000 threat investigations in 2025—a more than 50 percent increase from the previous year.
Chicago Mayor Coordinates With Sanctuary Cities to Resist ICE
Meanwhile, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson acknowledged Wednesday that he is working closely with other Democratic mayors to impede federal immigration enforcement, confirming regular coordination with leaders of so-called “sanctuary cities.”
Speaking at the National Press Club, Johnson said he has been in frequent contact with mayors in Minneapolis, Boston, Los Angeles, Portland, Oakland, Denver, and Baltimore to share strategies for resisting Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations.
The comments come after President Trump called for an end to sanctuary cities following a series of violent confrontations in Minneapolis tied to immigration enforcement, including two fatal shootings involving federal agents. Those incidents were linked to “rapid-response” activist networks that track ICE activity and mobilize crowds to confront officers.
Johnson touted Chicago’s creation of “ICE-Free Zones,” which restrict federal immigration agents from staging operations on city property without judicial warrants. He also said the city is developing additional measures to hold ICE and Border Patrol agents “accountable for criminal misconduct.”
Federal authorities say ICE agents in Chicago have faced escalating violence, including gunfire, vehicle-ramming attacks, and organized efforts to surround facilities. Similar unrest has been reported in Minneapolis and Portland, where confrontations with federal agents and journalists have turned violent.
