Arizona Democratic Sen. Ruben Gallego is launching an effort to challenge a new Trump Administration immigration policy that could require many green card applicants to leave the United States and complete the process abroad.

According to a report from The Hill, Gallego is not only seeking to overturn the policy itself but is also pursuing a procedural strategy that could make it easier for Congress to reverse the change.

The dispute revolves around a recent U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) policy affecting how certain immigrants obtain lawful permanent residency.

Today’s news spans the solemn, the strategic, and the shocking — from a tearful White House tribute to Charlie Kirk, to President Trump’s threats to pull major sporting events over public safety concerns, and a disturbing espionage investigation inside the State Department.

A Medal of Freedom and a Message of Legacy: Erika Kirk Honors Her Husband at White House

In a deeply emotional Rose Garden ceremony on what would have been his 32nd birthday, Erika Kirk accepted the Presidential Medal of Freedom on behalf of her late husband, Charlie Kirk, conservative activist and founder of Turning Point USA.

“Charlie always admired your commitment to freedom,” Erika said, thanking President Trump and noting that “everything Charlie built lives through” the movement he helped spark.

Kirk was shot and killed on a Utah college campus last month, shocking the nation with the highest profile political assassination in decades. Trump awarded him the nation’s highest civilian honor posthumously, calling him a “warrior for liberty.”

In her tribute, Erika recalled Charlie’s unshakable commitment to truth, faith, and responsibility, recalling his belief that, “Freedom is the ability to do what is right without fear. And that’s how he lived.”

Her remarks were also personal. She described Charlie’s love for quiet walks, decaf coffee on Sabbath mornings, and mint chocolate chip ice cream on his birthday. She shared how their young son, in his father’s absence, decided to become “the man of the house” and completed his potty-training.

Ending the tribute through tears, she said, “To live free is the greatest gift, but to die free is the greatest victory. Happy birthday, Charlie. Happy freedom day.”

Trump Threatens to Pull World Cup from Boston Over Crime, Warns LA Olympics May Be Next

At a joint appearance with Argentine President Javier Milei, President Donald Trump suggested he may push FIFA to relocate 2026 World Cup games from Boston unless Mayor Michelle Wu takes immediate action to address rising crime.

“The mayor is not good… she’s intelligent, but she’s radical left,” Trump said. “We can take them away.”

The warning follows a violent street takeover in Boston involving over 100 individuals, fireworks, and the destruction of a police cruiser. Local law enforcement said the suspects were “hell-bent” on attacking officers.

Boston is slated to host seven matches, including a quarterfinal next July. Trump said he could call FIFA President Gianni Infantino directly to demand relocation to a “safer” city, adding, “He wouldn’t love to do it, but very easily he’d do it.”

Mayor Wu responded, “Boston is honored and excited to host World Cup matches… the cradle of liberty and city of champions.”

Trump also floated the idea of pulling the 2028 Summer Olympics from Los Angeles over similar concerns, citing public safety and local cooperation as key factors.

State Department Official Caught in Espionage Scandal with China

In a case sending shockwaves through Washington, longtime State Department employee and national security expert Ashley Tellis has been accused of retaining classified documents and meeting with Chinese officials over several years.

Federal authorities say a search of Tellis’s Virginia home uncovered over 1,000 pages of TOP SECRET documents. He’s charged with unlawful retention of national defense information and is under investigation for potential espionage.

Tellis, who began working at the State Department in 2001 and held top-secret clearance, allegedly:

  • Had a colleague print classified material for him as recently as September;
  • Accessed U.S. Air Force documents on military aircraft capabilities;
  • Met multiple times with Chinese officials, including discussions about Iranian-Chinese relations and emerging technologies.

The Justice Department has not confirmed whether classified information was knowingly transferred to foreign agents, but authorities say the case is being handled as a serious breach of national security.
