Good morning.

President Trump is declaring a major diplomatic victory after announcing a finalized agreement with Iran that would reopen the Strait of Hormuz and formally end military operations. Trump has also thrown his weight behind Rep. Mike Collins in Georgia’s closely watched Senate runoff, and Sen. Mitch McConnell is back in the hospital amid continuing concerns about his health.

Trump Announces Iran Agreement After Months of Conflict

After more than three months of military confrontation, economic pressure, and high-stakes diplomacy, President Trump announced Sunday that a deal with Iran has been completed.

“The Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete,” Trump wrote on Truth Social, adding that he had authorized the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the immediate removal of the American naval blockade that has disrupted global shipping.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who helped mediate the talks, said a formal signing ceremony is scheduled for June 19 in Switzerland.

The agreement caps a conflict that began in late February with Operation Epic Fury, a U.S. military campaign that ultimately struck thousands of targets inside Iran. Tensions repeatedly threatened to spiral into a larger regional war, particularly after Iran downed an American Apache helicopter earlier this month and the United States responded with retaliatory strikes.

The final agreement reportedly includes guarantees that prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon while restoring commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important energy corridors.

Markets and governments around the world will now be watching closely to see whether the agreement holds and whether oil prices stabilize after months of disruption.

Trump Endorses Mike Collins in Georgia Senate Runoff

President Trump also weighed into one of the nation’s most closely watched Senate races Sunday, endorsing Republican Rep. Mike Collins in Georgia’s GOP runoff election.

Collins will face former football coach Derek Dooley in the June 16 runoff, with the winner advancing to challenge Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff in November.

In a lengthy endorsement posted to Truth Social, Trump praised Collins as a “MAGA Warrior and Winner” who has supported his agenda from the beginning. He highlighted Collins’ support for border security, election integrity, tax cuts, energy production, and the Laken Riley Act.

Trump also took a swipe at Dooley, questioning his ties to Georgia and noting that he did not vote in either the 2016 or 2020 presidential elections.

The endorsement could prove significant. Trump-backed candidates have performed strongly throughout the 2026 cycle, and Collins already holds a lead in most public polling.

With Ossoff viewed as one of the most vulnerable Democratic senators up for reelection, Republicans see Georgia as one of their best opportunities to maintain and expand their Senate majority.

McConnell Hospitalized Again

Sen. Mitch McConnell was hospitalized Sunday for an undisclosed medical issue, adding to a growing list of health concerns surrounding the 84-year-old Kentucky Republican.

A spokesperson confirmed that McConnell was admitted to the hospital Sunday morning and is receiving treatment but provided no additional details about his condition.

The former Senate Republican leader has experienced several health setbacks in recent years, including a concussion suffered during a 2023 fall, multiple public freezing episodes, and several additional falls that resulted in injuries and temporary mobility issues.

McConnell stepped down from Senate leadership in late 2024 after nearly two decades at the helm of the Republican conference and announced earlier this year that he would not seek reelection when his term expires in January 2027.
