Border Patrol Chief Michael Banks announced that illegal border crossings have dropped by a staggering 90% since January 21, 2025—just one day after President Trump’s inauguration. In an interview on Fox and Friends, Banks, a veteran border agent himself, credited the dramatic decrease to the Trump administration’s effective policies and robust leadership.
“We know how to get the job done, we know how to secure the border,” Banks asserted, emphasizing that all the Border Patrol needed was the backing of a president who prioritized border security. “All we needed was a president that was going to empower us — a strong leader like President Trump — and a secretary like Secretary Noem who knows exactly what we need to do to secure the border,” Banks said.
Figures provided by the Texas Department of Public Safety on February 5, 2025, revealed a stark contrast to the previous administration’s border challenges. On that day, only 396 illegal migrants were encountered in sections of the U.S.-Mexico border that were once hotspots for illegal crossings. These areas, including El Paso, the Rio Grande Valley, Laredo, Del Rio, and Big Bend, had witnessed a surge in illegal activity under President Biden’s leadership.
According to additional data obtained by The Post, the number of migrants held in U.S. Customs and Border Protection custody has plummeted by over 500% since the summer of 2024. Currently, fewer than 1,500 migrants are in custody, a sharp decline from the over 10,000 in custody during June 2024, when the border was under significant strain.
This sharp decrease in border crossings and migrant detentions comes as a direct result of Trump’s renewed focus on enforcement, which included ramped-up deportation efforts and significant policy changes.
“No other President has ever enforced our nation’s borders like President Trump,” one anonymous Border Patrol agent stated.
In New York City, a hotspot for migrant arrivals during the Biden administration, the number of new migrants entering the city has dropped significantly. Only 200 migrants entered the city’s shelter system last week, a significant decline from the 600 who arrived in the same week during the November presidential election. The total number of migrants in New York City’s shelters has decreased by 12,000 since the election, with current figures showing around 46,000 in shelters, compared to 58,000 in November 2024.
Banks also took the opportunity to dispel common misinformation about the enforcement tactics of Border Patrol. He rejected claims that agents were targeting vulnerable populations, such as grandmothers or families. “It’s just nonsense,” Banks said, referencing the rhetoric surrounding family separations and accusations of cruelty. “We’re targeting criminals, and those who have broken the law by entering the country illegally,” he clarified. “If you want to talk about abuelas, my abuela is a naturalized citizen from Mexico.”

Seems that all it takes is a President who wants to enforce OUR LAWS unlike many of our previous ones who ignored OUR LAWS! Of course those previous “scofflaws” should be prosecuted, it doesn’t matter if they are no longer living in “Government Housing” in OUR White House, they broke OUR LAWS and should be prosecuted!
