David Hogg, the 24-year-old gun control activist and survivor of the 2018 Parkland school shooting, was elected as a vice chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) on Feb. 1. His appointment signaled the party’s ongoing push to energize young progressives, but controversy quickly followed.
Shortly after his election, reports surfaced alleging that Hogg used DNC contact lists to solicit donations for his personal political action committee (PAC), “Leaders We Deserve.” Founded by Hogg in August 2023, the PAC claims to support young progressive candidates—but it also provides him with a six-figure annual salary.
The New York Post reports:
Barely two weeks into his tenure, Hogg has been leveraging DNC contact lists to blast out messages soliciting donations to his own political action committee — from which he draws more than $100,000 in compensation a year, according to Federal Election Commission records.
“David Hogg here: I was just elected DNC Vice Chair! This is a huge win for our movement to make the Democratic Party more reflective of our base: youthful, energetic, and ready to win,” reads one of eight texts he sent out to the DNC’s vast database of phone numbers.
Solicitation texts include a link to Hogg’s “Leaders We Deserve” PAC.
Federal Election Commission records show that Hogg has received more than $175,000 from the PAC since its inception, including a $20,000+ payout in December 2024 alone. The revelations have sparked criticism from within the party, with some officials voicing concerns that Hogg’s focus on personal fundraising could divert attention and resources from broader DNC efforts.
“David Hogg—talk about living up to your name. A trough of DNC dollars all for him, and he doesn’t seem to give an oink,” a senior Democrat, speaking anonymously, grumbled to The Post.
Reached by phone Hogg told The Post he “was not doing any interviews” — and then hung up.
Despite the backlash, a spokesperson for Hogg defended his actions, stating that he has also raised funds for the DNC since assuming his role as vice chair. However, the controversy raises serious questions about the intersection of personal ambition and party leadership—and whether Hogg’s position is truly about building the Democratic Party or just building his own brand.

Well, he was enrolled in the school at the time.
If I remember correctly he was not at the School at the time of the tragedy and he somehow heard what happened to. Hear a report of the shootings, and then hopped on his bike and biked to the site. I guess he was , assuming it was a single shooter. I don’t remember if he knew the shooter or if the police questioned him or who the police questioned, but I always wondered about a teenager not being anfraid, or being aware that sometimes shooters have partners. To be honest, I don’t remember it’s there was a lengthy investigation, but I always wondered at the why, and even if the shooter is very ill, they usually think they have a reason.
He’s a true Demon-rat. Out for himself and no one else.

Hogg is not a 2018 parkland shooting survivor, it’s been proven time and time again that he wasn’t anywhere near that school during that horrible time. He stated that when he heard there was a shooting, he tried to go and see what was happening. He likes to say that he was there, meaning he arrived afterwards..

Mr. Hogg is not a “survivor” of the Parkland shooting. News reports said he was home when this occurred, but raced on his bicycle to the school when he heard about the shooting to promote himself. And he apparently did successfully because it led to a Harvard scholarship after three previous colleges had turned him down. He’s in the right political party, an opportunist if there ever was one.

It’s very hard to know someone’s motivations to help. Sometimes it’s honorable and sometimes maybe not.
If Dem’s are smart, (no comment), they should oust him immediately. He’s going to be a polarizing figure that will dig the hole you’re already in, even deeper. He obviously already has his hands in the cookie jar. I’m a Republican, but even I feel the need to give you a heads up.
Hogg has been nothing more than a cheap grifter since Day 1. And now he’s using his position to get money for his own PAC. He’s been abusing his “popularity” to bolster his finances.
Now, there are some Dems having second thoughts about his motives behind being elected to his position. However, his platform aligns with the Democratic Party’s platform, meaning they and him did not learn anything from the last election.

Please stop calling David Hogg a survivor of the Parkland shooting. He wasn’t at school that day. Replace survivor with student.
