Experts Shift Oregon Gubernatorial Race Toward Republicans

-

Things are heating up in 's gubernatorial election. The nonpartisan Cook Political Report (CPR) shifted the race from “lean Democrat” to “toss up” toward Republicans in a surprising Friday update.

The shift comes after another rightward movement in July after CPR moved the race from “likely” to “lean Democrat.”

Three candidates are vying for the seat of incumbent Gov.  (D), who is term-limited. Former state House Speaker (D), former state House Minority Leader (R) and former state Sen. (I) are competing for the office traditionally held by Democrats in recent decades.

The report attributes the shift to Johnson potentially being a disruptor of the race because of her fundraising advantage and her TV ad spending.

“There's a clear trend of both Kotek and Drazan pulling in the low 30s, while Johnson has yet to poll higher than the mid-20s, though she has argued that will rise post-Labor Day,” notes

However, the report noted that Republicans have the potential to win the governor's seat because of Brown's low approval ratings and pointed to at least one ad in which Drazan sought to tie the two Democrats together.

Last month Drazan announced a seven-figure ad buy in pursuit of flipping the state.

“Tina Kotek and Betsy Johnson have been driving Kate Brown's agenda for years. They've led Oregon down the wrong path,” Drazan says in the ad. “Tina and Betsy haven't fixed anything. In fact, they've made things worse”

“We need a new direction. My roadmap for Oregon cleans up our streets, stops the tax increases, and makes life more affordable for Oregon families. The stakes couldn't be higher, but together we can do this,” she adds.

  1. Oregonians are probably fed up with having their cities burned down and looted so will vote for republicans who will restore law and order.

    • Maybe some law and order can be restored and the criminals of blm can be arrested and tried for their crimes, not let out to run free on the streets.

  2. Vote for Democrats and crimes will continually increase!

Can you afford the high inflation caused by President Biden and Democrats in Congress?

  3. Hogwash – the libtards have the entire west coast in lockup. The repukicants have about as much chance of electing some one to a major office as a snowball in hell will NOT melt! Apparently the citizens of portland, beaveton, corvallis, salem, eugene, et al, are either blind, have no electricity, or just DO NOT care as long as a libtard is in power!

  4. Since mail in voting for all residents came into effective 20 plus years ago the democrats only need three counties to win an election. Oregon doesn’t have free and fair elections.

    • Your right, non numbered ballots, dims win everytime. It’s to easy to change the votes or the entire ballot… Whoever counts the votes wins. STALIN.

  5. They vote dimocraps and they will see crime worse than it has been. Illinois has laws going into effect, that someone can move into your shed in backyard. All crimes short of murder depending on judge, no bond. Theft, arrested released next day no bond. It will be even worse under their dim governor… You think Chicago is bad right now, YOU HAVEN’T SEEN ANYTHING YET! ! ! !
