Fox News Host Unimpressed With Pro-Trump Super PAC’s DeSantis Ad

-

Three familiar faces at Channel recently reacted to former President 's proxy attack ad against Gov. .

Longtime Fox News host said he found it “idiotic.”

The ad references an account first reported by The Daily Beast that DeSantis once ate a cup of chocolate pudding with his fingers while onboard a private plane.

Beyond the visceral message, it attempts to use DeSantis' proposals to scale down social safety nets, a traditionally conservative position, against him.

The Daily Beast has more:

“Ron DeSantis loves sticking his fingers where they don't belong,” the ad states, while showing a man reenacting the tale. “And we're not just talking about pudding. DeSantis has his dirty fingers all over senior entitlements. Like cutting Medicare, slashing social security, even raising our retirement age.”

Cavuto wasn't the only one who found himself underwhelmed.

“It is insulting not only, you know, to push ads and promotions like this, but to think the American people would buy it or should be exposed to it–I know I'm naive,” Cavuto said. “I just find it idiotic.”

Daron Shaw, member of the Fox News decision desk, agreed.

“The former president's a little like that junior high school bully who managed to find the one thing about everybody's appearance that, you know, that made them uncomfortable, that made them insecure, and would hone in on that to sort of elevate himself and make them feel bad,” Shaw said.

added that the ad shows fears DeSantis' widely expected entry into the race, otherwise his allies wouldn't have launched a preemptive strike.

  1. I saw the ad, and Cavuto and his buddies are missing one very important point — the ad speaks a to a very real gut-level fear for many American senior citizens who would be adversely affected by such proposed changes to Social Security, Medicare benefits, etc. I am a staunch conservative and have voted Republican with very few exceptions for my entire adult life, and I don’t miss elections. I will tell you, it boils my blood every time I hear some knuckle-headed Republican brag on how they want to postpone or trim these benefits, or call them “entitlements”. I have been forced by my government to pay into Social Security and am expected to work the majority of my best adult years in order to qualify for these benefits. I EXPECT to receive ALL of my benefits in a TIMELY MANNER, and I don’t mean maybe about it, either. It’s time for our politicians to come clean about the way these programs have been abused and misused over the years. Make some MEANINGFUL CHANGES and leave my hard-earned benefits alone!

    • I see nothing negative – only positive – however, about moving the retirement age for benefits, assuming no health issues, to 70. When 65 was instituted, most obituaries read in the 70s, some 80s. Now it’s in the 80s and quite a lot in the 90s. My opinion is that many, many folks are not ready to quit working at 65 and it isn’t really good for a person.

  2. Cavuto was and is a never Trump RINO. He has lunch everyday with Paul Ryan and Karl Rove
    A sellout big time.

  3. He was an amazingly effective president – it is too lengthy to list all of the really positive accomplishments in his administration. Why, can he not do what no politician seems able to do, and take the high road? In addition, he is more aggressive and plain spoken than even most other politicians, at least what they show to the public. I will say there is nothing we don’t know about Donald Trump, which is probably why after millions of dollars and constant “investigating”, nothing illegal or really damaging has been found. BUT, I do wish he would stand down and not make vulgar innuendo about women, or mean and other innuendo about females and males who criticize him in any way or are simply going to run against him for the same office. His ugly traits in expressing himself are probably to blame for the USA having the worst disaster of a president in my pretty long lifetime. I am not even sure we can recover – especially with nearly two more years of destruction coming down from the top and carried out by Biden’s minions!!

  4. Pretty mild for Trump. I was afraid that he had done something vulgar again. I don’t know how his policies were so good despite the way he ad-libbed!

  5. Cavuto hates Trump. When Trump was (correctly) saying that hydroxychloroquine was an effective treatment for Covid, Cavuto was on live, shouting about that advice, “don’t do it, IT WILL KILL YOU!!!!”
He leads the haters on Fox and ought to have been fired long ago. I watch Tucker and Waters, and Bartoromo, THAT’S ALL.

  6. Who the heck cares what caput says – he has always hated President Trump, and has multiple times pretty much stated as much!

  7. TO PRESIDENT TRUMP – DRASTICALLY CONTROL YOUR SUPER PAC – they are causing you great harm and painting you as a bully & a fool! you are much better than that!!! You were one of our greatest Presidents and will soon be greater for the country, BUT PLEASE change your rhetoric because it’s turning off your staunchest supporters and NOT converting Independents. It worked the first time – but failing you now. WE NEED A POSITIVE, UPLIFTING, FORWARD THINKING MESSAGE TO GET AWAY FROM THE RADICALS RUNNING OUR COUNTRY NOW. STUDY PRESIDENT REAGAN BUT WITH YOUR CHARISMA AND CHARM – NOT YOUR BULLYING TACTICS.

  8. Stupid, childish ad
    Lame
& causes more divide in GOP
Libs would do ads like these.
    Uncreative, gross
