Following Donald Trump’s election victory, it took around 48 hours for a senior Hamas official to issue a call for peace, according to reporting from Newsweek.
Basem Naim, a member of the Hamas Political Bureau and spokesperson, emphasized the group’s desire for an “immediate cessation of the aggression,” particularly in Gaza.
Naim also highlighted the importance of addressing the long-standing aspiration for Palestinian statehood, suggesting that the change in U.S. leadership could influence the dynamics of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He noted that while Trump’s victory is a matter for U.S. citizens, Washington’s support for the Israeli government has significant implications for the region:
When previously in office, Trump forged a close relationship with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is today engaged in a multifront war against the Iran-aligned Axis of Resistance that began with a large-scale Hamas-led attack against Israel in October 2023. However, Trump has also expressed criticism of Netanyahu’s wartime leadership and has called for a timely end to the conflict.
Reached for comment, an Israeli official told Newsweek that “maintaining and building upon the special relationship between the U.S. and Israel has been a bipartisan feature of American politics since the founding of the Jewish state.”
“We have no doubt that this will continue to be the case,” the Israeli official said. “Going forward, we look forward to a strong working relationship with his administration to bring about a more peaceful, secure and prosperous Middle East.”
With continued signs of disagreement between President Joe Biden and Netanyahu over the course of the war despite sizable U.S. military aid, the Israeli premier was the first to congratulate Trump on what was described as “history’s greatest comeback.”
The aftermath of Trump’s election has sparked a series of diplomatic developments globally. Within days, the European Union announced an interest in purchasing American natural gas, aiming to sidestep anticipated tariffs from the incoming administration. Russian President Vladimir Putin has agreed to sell Russian oil in U.S. dollars, a significant shift with potential economic implications. In addition, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a private phone conversation with Trump and Elon Musk and Mexico helped break up a large caravan reportedly headed for the U.S. border.
These swift responses underscore the international community’s rapid adaptation to Trump’s presidency. The coming weeks may see further adjustments as global leaders and organizations recalibrate in light of the incoming Trump administration.

Seems the world is taking stock on a change in US goverment and possibly support over the last 4 years of debocherym lying, cheating, and political kickbacks that have marked the Biden Administration. If Russia backs off a little to the original Ukraine/Russian lines prior to their invasion of the Crimea as well as agrees to return North Korean soldiers to NK, and agrees to a demilitarized zone, the invasion across the southern border stops, the invasion of the mideast to the west stops, and we stop all trade with China until Fential manufacturing stops and being shipped from there stops, we will again have a world at peace. A tall order but possible under responsible leadership which was lacking for the last 4 years.
After all these decades of false peace efforts by ANY group associated with Iran, a sane person would be hard pressed to believe/trust ANYTHING coming out of the mouth of ANY person/group associated with Iran or ANY country claoming to be dedicated to Isreal’s destruction.
