Hochul Rally Turns Violent, Zeldin Supporter Attacked

-

A supporter of congressman and Republican gubernatorial candidate spoke to Fox News recently after allegedly being assaulted at a campaign event for Gov. .

Angelica Torres told Fox that she only wanted to express her First Amendment right when she was reportedly assaulted.

Torres appeared at the Manhattan event with an anti-Hochul sign before an unidentified woman forcibly took it from her and threw it on the ground. She claimed that an unidentified man grabbed her by the neck while Councilmember Crystal Hudson (D) attempted to move her by her arm.

However, the New York City Police Department said that the man that grabbed Torres' neck was actually trying to help her. It is unclear if he was a Hochul supporter.

Fox News further reports:

“I was pretty much defenseless, outnumbered,” Torres told Fox News correspondent Eric Shawn. “I was certainly shocked. I was definitely kind of like not expecting that to happen.”

“I felt like my voice was trying to be silenced,” Torres told Shawn. “I think it's disgraceful what happened. You know, I think, you know, we're supposed to have a middle ground where we can have agreements and have disagreements, but always be respectful.”

“I hope people understand that things are getting, you know, really bad in like the political field. You know, we can't have civil conversations,” Torres said. “We can't have debates without it getting violent. And I feel like they started to happen with Antifa. And unfortunately, people keep ignoring it like this isn't happening and now it's just going to escalate. And more and more.”

Polls show that Hochul is locked in a surprisingly tight race for reelection. Zeldin needs to win at least 30% of the vote in New York City to win a statewide race. That stark reality has prompted the Republican nominee to campaign aggressively in New York City.

The New York Post has more on Zeldin's final pitch to New York City voters and how he'd work with Mayor Adams (D):

Lee Zeldin said he looks forward to working with Mayor to “save the city” if he unseats Kathy Hochul as governor of New York.

The comments came in an interview aired by Spectrum News-NY1 Monday after a Post article revealed that the Democratic Big Apple mayor privately sees more opportunities to advance his plan if the Republican wins.

“My first call Wednesday morning will be to Mayor Adams,” the Republican Long Island congressman told host Pat Kiernan in a taped sitdown.

Multiple insiders have told The Post that the Mayor Adams, a Democrat, sees more opportunity to advance his initiatives on crime and public safety if the Republican wins.

  1. I have seen the pictures of the woman being attacked. There is no “alleged” about it. The man who was supposedly “helping” her in this article had a tight hand around her throat while another woman held her still. The violence implicit in the photo was horrifying and sanctioned by the democrats. This needs to stop NOW!

    • Agreed….saw them too…..so I’m wondering if the police really did anything to the perp besides “investigate”.
