Hunter Biden, the embattled son of former President Joe Biden, is once again at the center of political controversy after delivering a profanity-laced tirade about illegal immigration during an interview on “Channel 5 with Andrew Callaghan.”
In the wide-ranging conversation, Biden did not hold back his frustration over the current discourse surrounding immigration, expressing outrage at what he characterized as dehumanization of illegal immigrants. His comments, however, quickly drew backlash for both their tone and content — including an explosive claim that the U.S. immigration system is comparable to Nazi Germany’s treatment of marginalized groups during the Holocaust.
“What we’re going to do is we’re going to send masked men to this marginalized group, and we are going to take them, put them on planes, put them on busses, put them on trains, and send them to a prison camp in a foreign country,” Biden said.
He specifically cited the Center for Terrorism Confinement (CECOT) in El Salvador — a facility known for housing suspected gang members and violent offenders — and described it as a “f**king concentration camp,” claiming many detainees face indefinite imprisonment without due process.
“They’re done. They’re over. And if you’re not dead, you would want to be dead,” Biden declared, describing the prison as a “death camp.”
Critics were quick to condemn Biden’s remarks as inflammatory and misleading. While CECOT has been internationally scrutinized, it is primarily used to detain suspected members of violent gangs such as MS-13. Biden made no mention of the fact that many illegal immigrants detained and deported from the U.S. have serious criminal records, including charges ranging from homicide to child exploitation.
In another part of the interview, Biden aggressively challenged those who criticize illegal immigration, stating: “F**k you. How do you think your hotel room gets cleaned? How do you think you have food on your f**king table? Who do you think washes your dishes? Who do you think does your f**king garden?”
He went on to blame the American public for falling victim to what he described as right-wing narratives portraying immigrants as criminals, stating that “white men in America are 45 more times likely to commit a f**king violent crime than an immigrant” — a claim that is unverified and has drawn skepticism from analysts and law enforcement officials alike.
Adding fuel to the fire, Biden floated the idea of launching an invasion of El Salvador if the U.S. government could not secure the release of deportees held in the CECOT prison.
“I would pick up the phone and call the f**king president in El Salvador and say, ‘You either f**king send them back or I’m going to f**king invade.’”
Political fallout was swift. Conservative commentators accused Biden of trivializing the Holocaust, promoting open borders, and ignoring the threats posed by criminal illegal aliens. The remarks also drew concern from centrists and members of the Democratic Party who worry they may alienate moderate voters.
The controversy came just days after Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced that two illegal immigrants released under the Biden administration were responsible for an ambush attack on an off-duty Border Patrol agent in New York City on July 19.
Hunter Biden’s unapologetic tone and radical proposals, including use of military force to intervene in foreign prisons, have reignited debates about his public presence and influence in political discourse. While his father, Joe Biden, has not commented on the interview, the former president has previously distanced himself from his son’s more outspoken public statements.
