As President-elect Donald Trump prepares to take office for a second term, some on the left are planning to deliberately avoid spending in an effort to sabotage the economy under his leadership. Left-wing social media activists are outlining strategies to “tank” the economy by minimizing consumption, with the hopes of undermining the success of Trump’s policies.
This unorthodox plan comes in the wake of Trump’s stunning political comeback, where he not only swept all seven key swing states but also secured 312 electoral votes and won the popular vote. Many view his victory as a clear mandate for change, especially regarding economic policies. Yet some leftists remain unwilling to accept the results, and now they’re taking matters into their own hands with a coordinated effort to withdraw from the economy in hopes of making Trump’s economic policies fail.
One prominent voice in this effort is a social media user with the handle @PrezLives2022, who has over 127,000 followers. In a post that has garnered significant attention, this individual vowed to contribute as little as possible to the economy over the next four years, saying:
“Trump will not have a good economy because we don’t have to let him. I myself plan on paying my bills and saving every penny beyond that. I will not contribute to this economy in any other way.”
Another user, @mmpadellan, with 1.3 million followers, echoed this sentiment in a similar post. He urged his followers to “tighten their belts” and avoid purchasing non-essential items, arguing that such actions would weaken Trump’s economic success:
“Over the next four years, I highly suggest folks tighten their belts and spend as little as possible, except for the essentials like food, utilities, rent, etc. After riding the coattails of President Biden’s AMAZING economy for his first six months in office, Trump is going to destroy it with his dumb policies.”
Some have gone so far as to claim that Trump is “handed a second good economy to tank,” referring to his administration’s post-pandemic economic recovery, ignoring the fact that inflation, high gas prices, and supply chain issues have also defined President Biden’s term.
Instead of accepting Trump’s victory and working within the political system, some on the left are resorting to a strategy of economic sabotage, hoping that by withdrawing from the market, they can erode the legitimacy of the Trump administration’s economic policies. This is not a strategy based on reason or pragmatism, but rather a manifestation of ideological opposition that seeks to punish the very system that many leftists feel betrayed by.
One of the key aspects of Trump’s economic record that critics often overlook is his ability to manage inflation. Contrary to leftist claims that his policies would exacerbate inflation, studies have shown that many of his initiatives—such as cutting back on foreign energy dependence and reining in illegal immigration—can help reduce inflationary pressures. In fact, Trump’s focus on energy independence, along with his push for domestic manufacturing, are likely to reduce the U.S.’s reliance on costly imports and alleviate the inflationary pressures seen during Biden’s term.

I wonder if this clown is a swamp dweller, illegal immigrant, coyote, drug dealer, gang banger, or welfare recipient? Those are the beneficiaries of the “amazing” slojoe economy.
Was this clown an illegal immigrant, coyote, swamp dweller, drug dealer, gang banger, or welfare recipient. Those are the beneficiaries of the “amazing” SloJoe economy.
People have had to minimize consumption of goods for the last 4 years due to the Biden economic policies. Do you honestly think that if prices come down and things start returning to how they were 3-5 years ago, that people will listen to you and not buy stuff they can now afford again? Pretty shallow thinking on your part.
In my opinion this is a wonderful idea in that leftist/progressives are already selective where they shop/support and this action may help sink “woke” liberal businesses that promote liberal causes & contribute so heavily to the Democratic Party. Conservatives are also becoming more aware of businesses & corporations that do not align with their beliefs and may also gravitate toward those businesses that do align more closely with their conservative beliefs. I know that I already avoid supporting businesses that contribute to liberal causes and if the anti-Trump liberals stop consuming it may leave the “Woke” businesses floundering. What’s not to like?
I would question their consumer base that is capable of the meanful strike. These morons are not planted on terra firma. They assume that there is still a valuable spending population they have influence over. Welfare, people who buy today, any other part of the populace that sides with them? Who if anyone will side with this bunch of delusional idiots? They will shoot themselves in the foot with anyone stuck in their time zones!
Nobody needs you little leftist pukes to help our economy because President Trump and his Administration are going to do that all by themselves with the DOGE, deporting Illegals, strengthening our borders, bringing U.S. mfgs. BACK to the U.S. and putting sanctions on foreign countries who sanction and try to outcompete us based on cheaper labor rates. He did it before without your help and it will be done again.
What a stupid idea. Who in the world can go without purchasing essentials? Get over your TDS.
