Conservative firebrand Mark Levin isn’t mincing words when it comes to President Donald Trump’s latest remarks on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Levin, a staunch supporter of Trump on virtually every issue, took a hard stance against the president’s characterization of Zelensky as a “dictator” and the suggestion that Ukraine bears responsibility for the ongoing war with Russia.
On his radio show, Levin pushed back, while steering clear of criticizing Trump directly. The Fox News host and talk radio titan explained that Zelensky’s wartime measures—such as martial law and postponing elections—are entirely legal under Ukraine’s constitution. He also pointed out the hypocrisy of Vladimir Putin demanding elections in Ukraine while crushing democracy in Russia. Levin brought up polling data showing Zelensky’s approval rating at around 57%, countering claims that the Ukrainian leader has lost public support. More importantly, he made it clear: Ukraine didn’t invade Russia—Russia invaded Ukraine. Considering that reality, he argued, what else was Ukraine supposed to do? Surrender?
Levin didn’t hold back on those who not only criticize Zelensky but seem to cozy up to Putin. He called such views “un-American” and reminded listeners that most Americans don’t trust Putin, nor should they. His message was clear: standing with Ukraine isn’t just about foreign policy—it’s about standing against tyranny and supporting a nation fighting for its survival.
As Mediaite reports:
On his radio show, Levin delivered a history lesson on Russian dictator Vladimir Putin’s rise to power and various crimes, while going to bat for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Trump has been scathing in his criticism of Zelensky this week, excoriating him for not holding elections, as well as supposedly being responsible for the conflict and the deaths of “MILLIONS,” despite the fact that Putin invaded Ukraine in 2022 without provocation.
After running through his history lesson, Levin played a clip in which his Fox News colleagues Martha MacCallum and Jack Keane pushed back on Trump before diving into the issues himself.
“Now look, I don’t have a problem if it’s the position of our administration to cut back on support for Ukraine — which I oppose, by the way — then so be it. Elections have consequences, so be it. But I want to make sure the facts are on the table and you, the American people, draw your own conclusion,” began Levin, submitting that “MAGA doesn’t support Putin.”
Levin’s comments underscore a growing divide within the Republican Party. Many GOP lawmakers are rejecting Trump’s position and reaffirming their commitment to Ukraine. Representative Mike Lawler (R-N.Y.) didn’t hesitate to call Putin a “vile dictator and thug,” while Representative Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Pa.) pointed out the irony of Trump’s words, emphasizing that Putin is the real dictator, given Russia’s lack of free elections.
At its core, Levin’s argument speaks to a larger debate within American politics: How should the U.S. respond to Russian aggression? And for conservatives, what does it really mean to stand for freedom? Levin has made his position crystal clear—supporting Ukraine is not just the right move; it’s the only move.
