Maxine Waters Calls To Deport Melania Trump

In a heated protest rally in Los Angeles over the weekend, Democratic Representative Maxine Waters suggested that President Donald Trump should investigate and possibly deport First Lady Melania Trump. Waters’ comments, made in the context of a protest against the Department of Government Efficiency’s actions, have drawn significant criticism.

Waters criticized President Trump’s stance on birthright citizenship, asserting, “When he [Trump] talks about birthright, and he’s going to undo the fact that the Constitution allows those who are born here, even if the parents are undocumented, they have a right to stay in America. If he wants to start looking so closely to find those who were born here and their parents were undocumented, maybe he ought to first look at Melania. We don’t know whether or not her parents were documented. And maybe we better just take a look.”

The comments, which quickly gained traction on social media, stemmed from her opposition to Trump’s executive order ending birthright citizenship, specifically regarding children born in the U.S. to parents in the country illegally.

The 14th Amendment, passed in 1868, states, “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.” Waters claimed that this constitutional provision grants automatic U.S. citizenship to children born to illegal immigrants, a stance that is widely disputed by legal experts, especially in the context of modern immigration law.

Many constitutional scholars argue that this interpretation of the 14th Amendment is problematic and has been historically misapplied.

The 14th Amendment was originally passed in the aftermath of the Civil War, primarily to ensure citizenship for freed slaves and their descendants. However, it has not historically been applied uniformly to all groups, especially Native Americans, who were not granted full citizenship rights until the Indian Citizenship Act of 1924. Legal experts suggest that the original intent of the amendment was to protect newly freed African Americans, not to automatically grant citizenship to children of foreign nationals, especially those in the country illegally.

Melania Trump, who was born in Slovenia and became a U.S. citizen in 2006, sponsored her parents’ immigration process, eventually securing their U.S. citizenship in 2018. Waters’ remarks, which insinuate potential discrepancies in Melania Trump’s parents’ immigration status, have been criticized for diverting attention from broader policy discussions about immigration and birthright citizenship.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Elon Musk wrote, “At some point, the many crimes of Maxine Waters will catch up to her.” While Musk did not directly address Waters’ comments about Melania Trump or birthright citizenship, his post highlighted his ongoing frustration with Waters, whom he has criticized in the past. Musk’s comments quickly went viral, with many conservative commentators seizing on his words as a direct challenge to Waters’ rhetoric. His involvement in the controversy underscores the growing tension between high-profile figures in the tech world and political leaders, particularly regarding issues like immigration and constitutional rights.

    Max has got to have the biggest mouth of anyone and in most pictures it is wide open. A congress woman of poor regard and even poorer integrity. The people in that CA address she represents need someone younger and with the real interest of helping them not just helping herself and her daughter. You can do better, just encourage a younger person in your community to run against her who does have some integrity that Max does not have!.
