On her SiriusXM program Thursday, former Fox News host Megyn Kelly blasted former White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre after reports surfaced that she was allegedly rejected for a co-hosting role on ABC’s The View. Kelly pulled no punches, calling Jean-Pierre “dumber than dirt” and questioning how someone with her credentials could be passed over by a show with such low standards for talent.
The comments came in response to a Politico report that Jean-Pierre had expressed interest in joining The View following the end of the Biden administration, but that she was ultimately dismissed. Despite multiple appearances on the show and hoping to pivot to television, insiders claim ABC decided against a permanent position.
“You know, the stuff about The View is amazing,” BlazeTV host Stu Burguiere said during his appearance on The Megyn Kelly Show. “Do you know how intellectually unimpressive you must be to not be able to impress people on The View?”
Kelly doubled down, responding: “Yes, exactly. How dumb do you have to be to get rejected from The View? Oh my God, it’s horrifying. Can you imagine? She must’ve had to go on some sort of antidepressant after that.”
Kelly also referenced Jean-Pierre’s background—emphasizing her role as the first black, openly gay press secretary—as something that The View typically values. “They’ll take anybody over there,” she said. “And especially if you can say you were the former Biden press secretary and you’re a lesbian and black and you got rejected? You are dumber than dirt!”
Burguiere added, “’The View’s’ basic programming strategy is to do a nationwide search for the four dumbest people on the planet and put them around the table. And they were like, ‘Sorry, Karine, you’re just too terrible, even for us.’”
The reported rejection and the ensuing commentary arrive at a time when scrutiny of Jean-Pierre and the Biden administration has escalated. The release of CNN anchor Jake Tapper’s and Axios journalist Alex Thompson’s new book, Original Sin, has turned up the heat on what they describe as growing concern within the administration over President Biden’s age and mental acuity.
Jean-Pierre, who routinely defended the president’s fitness during her tenure, once dismissed viral clips of Biden stumbling and misspeaking as “cheap fakes” manipulated by Republicans. The remarks were widely criticized at the time for appearing to ignore the president’s visible struggles, and her explanations have only become more absurd with time.
In the wake of the 2024 election, many Democrats in politics and media are facing a significant credibility crisis, particularly regarding the “cover-up” of President Biden’s cognitive decline. Executives in television and other media may be wary of associating with Jean-Pierre, who has become, in many ways, the face of that cover-up due to her role as Biden’s spokesperson defending his mental fitness.
This week, Jean-Pierre also announced she is leaving the Democratic Party and plans to release a book detailing what she calls “betrayal” within Democratic ranks that contributed to Biden’s eventual withdrawal from the 2024 race. The timing of her political and media ambitions falling short has only intensified criticism from both sides of the political spectrum.
