A new report published by the Daily Mail alleges South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R) and former Trump campaign manager and confidant Corey Lewandowski have engaged in a clandestine affair dating back at least to 2019.
Both Noem and Lewandowski are married.
Given her emphasis on family values, some observers speculate the allegations could harm Noem's chances of becoming Donald Trump's running mate should he secure the Republican nomination.
Lewandowski accompanied Trump to his rally in Rapid City last Friday but did not publicly interact with Noem. The pair decided to keep a wide berth after learning about the upcoming report on their alleged affair.
When reached for comment, a Noem spokesperson attacked the article's timing.
The Daily Mail has further details regarding the links between Noem and Lewandowski:
But a DailyMail.com investigation has uncovered extensive evidence of the couple's romantic relationship: Dozens of trips that mixed business with pleasure, flights on donors' private planes, and stays at luxury resorts where their intimacy was observed and noted.
Former Trump operative Charles Johnson wrote in a Substack post that he had seen them acting ‘in a very flirtatious manner' at the August 2020 meeting of the Republican Attorneys General Association (RAGA) at The Cloister resort on Sea Island, Georgia.
They “seemed to be dating despite being married to other people,” Johnson wrote.
Other attendees at the RAGA meeting were equally surprised. “A lot of people were talking about it,” one told the Daily Mail, who added they saw the duo taking a romantic walk on the beach.
Noem and Lewandowski have traveled together repeatedly, leaving one staffer at the state capitol to confide in the Mail: “We often had no idea where she was, or even if she was in state or out of state, she would simply disappear.”
Noem spokesman Ian Fury denounced the report while not addressing the accusations in it:
This is so predictable that you would attack Governor Noem less than a week after she endorsed Donald J. Trump as the 47th President of the United States.
As Governor Noem said during that endorsement speech: “Yes, I will be attacked for speaking the truth to all of you tonight. Yes, I expect Joe Biden, these candidates, their political operatives, and the media will perpetuate ugly, hateful misinformation in an attempt to destroy me and my family because of my opinions. It's nothing new. I'm getting used to it honestly.”
Lewandowski has not responded to requests for comment. The longtime Trump confidant has four children with Alison Hardy, a 9/11 widow he married in 2005:
He allegedly had an affair with campaign press secretary Hope Hicks, and in the run-up to the 2016 election he was arrested for manhandling Breitbart News reporter Michelle Fields at a press conference in Florida. Charges were later dropped.
After Trump's election, Lewandowski gained a reputation for being a loose cannon.
Following a 2017 party at the then-Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C., conservative pop singer Joy Villa reported Lewandowski to the police for sexual assault, claiming the GOP operative “smacked my ass really hard” twice while posing for a picture, describing it as “almost violent in nature.”
Villa claimed that Lewandowski “laughed and walked away” after she told him she could report him for sexual harrassment.

The sexual lives of political leaders is none of my business! All I care about is what he does when “on-the-clock”. I may prefer a straight arrow for president, but it really has no effect on me unless the democrat thinks me dumb enough to believe his latest lie. When “on-the-clock”, President Trump did good thing after good thing. What presidential act did he do that was bad? There aren’t any that I know of. Congress, including Rinos, held him back on many good things for America. All the news can bring up has to do with made up charges, etc. – all assuming the electorate too stupid to see the truth through all the liberal smoke. Do you remember the good days of the “Huntley/Brinkley Evening News”? So now, many think Trump “controversial”!
