Report: Unpopular Democrat Begs Obama for Help After Slipping in the Polls

-

Talk about a hail mary.

With less than a month until Election Day, some Democrat candidates are getting desperate for a last-minute boost in the polls.

The most desperate move yet came from Democrat candidate who called former President in hopes of convincing him to make a campaign appearance. Barnes is vying to unseat incumbent Senator Ron Johnson (R) but has recently seen a downturn in the polls.

A Wednesday poll from Marquette Law School found that Johnson was entering the final stretch with 52% support from likely voters, while Mandela had 46%. The results are a stark jump from September when polls showed Johnson just 1 point ahead of Barnes.

Sen. Johnson has seen himself surge ahead after calling attention to Barnes' concerning stance on soft-on- policies. Rising rates of violent crime are expected to be a defining issue in this year's midterms.

Mandela's call for assistance comes after Congressional  raked in tens of millions in donations between July and September. The Congressional Leadership Fund PAC garnered $73 million in donations through the period, $18 million more than its Democratic counterpart, according to Fox News.

Obama isn't the only high-level Democrat who may offer a lifeline to the Democrat candidate, however, as Vice President Kamala Harris and Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-VT, are reportedly likely to make the trip.

“Sen. Sanders believes that in the coming election we need to energize working-class voters and grow turnout,” Sanders adviser Faiz Shakir told Politico. “He intends to play an active role in making that happen.”
