A suspect is in custody today after attempting to assault New Hampshire Republican Senate nominee Don Bolduc. The attack happened before the retired general debated Democratic Sen. Maggie Hassan at Saint Anselm College Wednesday night.
“As the General said on stage tonight, it’s time to lower the temperature of the political discourse in this country,” a Bolduc campaign spokesperson said. “Prior to the debate, an individual in the crowd gathered outside attempted to punch the General and was quickly apprehended and arrested. We are grateful to the quick response from law enforcement on the scene.”
Hassan’s communications director called the incident “disgusting” in a tweet. He added that the assailant was a “libertarian party activist” who had gotten aggressive with their campaign volunteers, a claim the Bolduc campaign corroborated.

Wednesday’s debate between Bolduc and Hassan was the third and final debate prior to next Tuesday’s election.
Bolduc, 60, served 10 tours of duty in Afghanistan. Over the past month, he’s erased Hassan’s high single-digit lead in the polls. The latest Trafalgar/Daily Wire poll, released before the debate, shows the retired general edging out Hassan, 47% to 45.7%.

“What we’re seeing right now is a lot of his support consolidating,” said Robert Cahaly, founder of Trafalgar Group, noting that both Bolduc and his vanquished primary opponent, Chuck Morse, both led Hassan in hypothetical matchups before the primaries. “This is kind of the direction the race has been moving, and the undecideds are still very anti-Biden.”
Bolduc’s momentum comes as fellow Republican candidates are surging around the nation and the GOP appears poised to capture the House and possibly Senate majorities. The poll, taken from Oct. 30-Nov. 1, surveyed 1,241 respondents and has a 2.9% margin of error.
The Republican’s campaign had remained under the national radar for months, as pundits and party leaders focused on higher-profile races in Arizona, Georgia, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. But when the military veteran closed to within the margin of error late last month, the National Republican Senatorial Committee pumped $1 million into his campaign.
Hassan, a former Granite State governor, is seeking her second term in the U.S. Senate. In Wednesday’s debate, she touted her record as governor, called Balduc an “extremist” and warned conservative “rhetoric” was leading to violence.

It is amazing how often projections of own predilections are voiced. Quite often when a statement is made against others it reflects their own motives and actions.
It’ surprising that the General is doing that well up there in left wing liberal country. The whole northeast is left wing country and most people know that, so that when a republican does well it must be a fluke.
Maybe the reason he’s doing well is because people are tired of what they have now?????
NH was always a mostly red state until the Obama era. It turned bright blue and elected 4 liberal women to Washington about 6 years ago and stayed blue with the help of the “flatlanders” that moved into the state to cut their cost of living. Now the backlash is coming.

She is right. Electing a Republican DOES lead to violence- BY THE DEMOCRAT SUPPORTERS, as was witnessed ever since 2016 when Donald Trump won the election.
