A new low for Democrats…
A new poll reports that less than 1% of Democrats are satisfied with the direction of the country under President Donald Trump compared to 76% of Republicans, further highlighting the intense partisan divide between political parties.
Gallup released a survey this week in which they noted they recorded their highest gap on that metric when asking whether people are happy with the current direction of the country. A total of 76% of Republicans said they are satisfied, but 0% of Democrats felt the same.
Gallup reported:
Partisanship is also at a peak on this metric, with 76% of Republicans saying they are satisfied with the direction of the country versus less than 1% of Democrats. The resulting 76-point gap is the highest Gallup has recorded on this measure, although not substantially different from a 75-point gap in May and 74 points in March and July. Before this year, the parties had differed by more than 70 points on satisfaction only once, in October 2004 before that year’s presidential election.
A quarter of independents also said they are satisfied with the country’s direction. Satisfaction among Democrats has been in the single digits for Trump’s entire time in office this year. The exact total for their latest data is 0.4%, rounded down to 0%.

The president’s overall job approval sits at 40% in the Gallup poll, which is about the same as the 41% approval rating he received at the same time during his first term.
One new poll released on Wednesday reported that President Trump’s approval rating has surged five points in response to his crackdown on crime in Washington, D.C.
The poll results, from the The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, show the president has a 45% approval rating nationwide. That is the best approval rating Trump has received from the AP-NORC poll in either his first or second term.
Trump’s handling of crime received a thumbs up from 53% of Americans who were polled; a whopping 88% of Republicans said they approved of the commander-in-chief’s approach to crime, while only 16% of Democrats said they liked what Trump is doing.
Some other key points on crime: 55% of respondents said it is “acceptable for the U.S. military and National Guard to assist local police in large cities,” according to the AP-NORC, but only one-third of Americans said they would support the federal government taking over police departments in American cities. The nationwide poll also found 80% of Americans believe crime is a major problem in big cities.
Trump also received his best approval rating ever on several other issues, including immigration (44%), the economy (43%), and the Ukraine war (42%).
The new poll comes after the president recently deployed the National Guard to Washington, D.C. in an effort to thwart crime. On Tuesday, the first murder in Washington, D.C. in 13 days was reported. Vice President JD Vance, a day earlier, said the capital typically averaged one murder every other day, before commending the president on saving 6-7 lives since deploying the National Guard.
