On Monday, Texas Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett (D) filed to run for U.S. Senate.
In the Democratic primary, Crockett will face state Rep. James Talarico, whose campaign has generated national headlines and who raised a record $6.2 million in the first three weeks of his campaign announcement, according to CBS News.
After Crockett filed her paperwork, Talarico issued a statement saying, “We’re building a movement in Texas — fueled by record-breaking grassroots fundraising and 10,000 volunteers who are putting in the work to defeat the billionaire mega-donors and puppet politicians who have taken over our state. Our movement is rooted in unity over division — so we welcome Congresswoman Crockett into this race.”
Republican incumbent Sen. John Cornyn, Attorney General Ken Paxton and U.S. Rep. Wesley Hunt are also locked in a closely-watched battle for the GOP nomination. The final general election matchup is expected to be one of the most expensive races in the 2026 national cycle.
Crockett’s entry into the race comes after another Democrat Senate candidate, former Rep. Colin Allred, dropped out of the race earlier Monday. Instead of filing his paperwork to run in the Senate race, he opted to file to run for the newly-drawn 33rd Congressional District. In a statement earlier Monday, Allred said, “In the past few days, I’ve come to believe that a bruising Senate Democratic primary and runoff would prevent the Democratic Party from going into this critical election unified against the danger posed to our communities and our Constitution by Donald Trump and one of his Republican bootlickers Paxton, Cornyn, or Hunt. That’s why I’ve made the difficult decision to end my campaign for the U.S. Senate. But I’m nowhere near done serving my community and our state. Today, I’m announcing my campaign for Congress to represent the newly drawn Congressional District 33.”

…”firebrand”, really? …try whack-job!
The best ‘exit strategy’ would be for her to depart Texas and go back to where she was raised (St. Louis metro area). She might actually be ‘appreciated’ there.
Oh Jasmine may be heard from again, but not as a senator.
