Still, one rival stood out – South Carolina Sen. (R).

Scott became the first Black American elected to the U.S. Senate in the Southern since Reconstruction. He won a 2014 special election before being elected to a full term in 2016 and reelected in 2022.

Scott's political acumen and friendly nature have endeared him to his Republican peers in the Senate. Many of his supporters compare his demeanor to Ronald Reagan.

Trump hinted that he's assessing who would make a good running mate. While remaining tight-lipped on that issue, the GOP frontrunner noted that Sen. Scott may have a place in a future Trump administration. (RELATED: Esteemed Organization Openly Wants To ‘Get Rid Of' Top Republican)

Fox News' Anders Hagstrom has more on the illuminating conversation:

“Is there anyone on that stage you see as a potential running mate, as your VP?” Bartiromo asked.

“Possibly. I mean, I think you have some good people on the stage. Actually, I think you have some very talented people. I've been impressed by some of them. Some of them I'm very friendly with,” Trump responded. “Actually, a number of them called me up not to ask for permission, but sort of to ask for permission, to say they'd like to do it. A number of the people up there – I'm not going to embarrass them by saying who – but no, I think you have good people. I think you have good potential Cabinet members to actually do that.”

“Do you see yourself perhaps with the senator, Tim Scott?” Bartiromo pressed.

“I think he's a very good guy. And we did opportunity zones together. It's never been talked about. It's one of the most successful economic development things ever done in this country. And Tim is very good. I mean, I could see Tim doing something with the administration, but he's in right now campaigning…. But Tim is a talented guy, and you have other very talented people.”

Not content to declare his candidacy all but over, the Scott campaign responded to Fox News with a message that said, in part:

I did not enter this race to come in second place. Second place is the first loser.

  1. If Trump gets nominated he should ask Tim to join him! Nothing to do with color as I support Tim too!

    • Trump will keep his options open until the last minute so he can consider each one thoroughly. Trump does not make hasty decision which is one thing I like about him among many others.

  2. The bad thing about Trump is he is not very good at sniffing out RINOS who would sabotage his administration for example fat boy NJ Gov who managed to get the CCP sympathizer and traitor Wray in as FBI director or neocon Pence or swamp man Bill Barr. Tim Scott is Pence in blackface. His complexion is his protection. What Trump needs are proven conservatives no matter what race, gender, religion or any of the other meaningless junk.
