President Donald Trump launched a blistering attack on Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) on Sunday, accusing the libertarian-leaning congressman of disloyalty and obstruction after Massie joined Democrats in opposing Trump’s recent military action against Iran. The strike, which reportedly dismantled Iran’s nuclear capabilities, was hailed by Trump as a “spectacular military success.”
Massie’s vocal opposition to the strike — including his call for a War Powers Act resolution to rein in Trump’s authority — appears to have triggered the president’s ire. In a series of scathing posts on Truth Social, Trump lambasted Massie as “not MAGA,” labeling him “a negative force” and “a simple minded ‘grandstander.’”
“Congressman Thomas Massie of Kentucky is not MAGA, even though he likes to say he is,” Trump wrote. “Actually, MAGA doesn’t want him, doesn’t know him, and doesn’t respect him.”
Trump accused Massie of consistently voting “NO” on key legislation, regardless of merit, and suggested the Kentucky congressman was out of touch with the MAGA movement and Republican priorities.
“Massie is weak, ineffective, and votes ‘NO’ on virtually everything put before him (Rand Paul, Jr.),” Trump added, mocking Massie’s libertarian philosophy by comparing him to fellow Kentucky Senator Rand Paul.
“We had a spectacular military success yesterday, taking the ‘bomb’ right out of their hands (and they would use it if they could!),” Trump said. “But… this ‘lightweight’ Congressman is against what was so brilliantly achieved.”
Massie’s opposition, consistent with his long-standing skepticism of executive overreach and foreign military interventions, contrasts sharply with Trump’s view of the strike as both necessary and triumphant.
Massie has also been a frequent dissenter on domestic policy. He voted against Trump-backed spending legislation, including a border security bill in March and what Trump described as the “big, beautiful bill” in May. Trump now warns that Massie is poised to vote against the Senate-amended version of that bill — a move Trump claims could lead to a 68% tax increase.
Frustrated by what he sees as Massie’s obstructionism, Trump has pledged to actively campaign against him in the 2026 Republican primary.
“Drop this pathetic LOSER, Tom Massie, like the plague!” Trump urged his followers. “We will have a wonderful American Patriot running against him… and I’ll be out in Kentucky campaigning really hard.”
This is not the first time Trump and Massie have clashed. In 2020, Massie nearly derailed a COVID relief bill by demanding a recorded vote — prompting Trump to call for his expulsion from the Republican Party. Still, Massie survived and won re-election comfortably.
Massie enjoys strong support among libertarian conservatives and is known for his independence from party leadership. But Trump’s grip on the GOP remains formidable, particularly in primary battles where his endorsement can make or break a campaign.

This Massie guy is a trans party, send out of the GOP and over to the Genderless Party, DEMS! let’s get together! anyone that thinks should be in the hands of Muslim radicals should be recognized and removed from any public office. can you re imagine 911 and DC attacks using Nukes! we would not have a USA! AOC is a first to go, then all the people who put their ideology ahead of their country must be held accountable.
Our President Trump has demonstrated “Peace thru Strength”.
The Iranian nuclear threat had to be removed and only he could do it.
Many of our Adversaries doubted his resolve and now know he means what he says.
Those who want Peace at any cost would not sleep “peacefully” after being “Nuked”,
