A new undercover video released by Project Veritas has sparked fresh controversy over the inner workings of the Biden White House, revealing claims that First Lady Jill Biden’s chief of staff, Anthony Bernal, held outsized and largely hidden influence over presidential affairs.
In footage captured by an undercover journalist, David Hogg — ousted Vice Chair of the Democratic National Committee and a high-profile political activist — voiced concerns about the power structure inside the Biden administration. While emphasizing that the DNC “is always going to be a campaign arm of the president,” Hogg said the real issue was not party alignment, but who was truly making decisions.
“The bigger issue was the inner circle around Biden,” Hogg stated in the video. He described Bernal as possessing an “enormous amount of power” in dealing with the aging former president, who at 82 has faced questions about cognitive sharpness and physical stamina.
The video also features former Biden staffer Deterrian Jones, who echoed Hogg’s concerns and characterized Bernal as a hidden force behind the scenes. “He was scary,” Jones said. “The general public wouldn’t know what he looked like, but he wielded incredible power.” He likened Bernal to “a shadowy Wizard of Oz-type figure.”
Bernal, who has worked with the Biden family since the Obama administration and currently serves as senior advisor to the First Lady, has kept a low public profile but remains a fixture in Biden world. Despite limited visibility, insiders have long acknowledged his proximity to power and influence over key decisions involving the President.
Questions have been raised about who really held the reins in the Biden administration throughout his presidency. A 2023 Tablet magazine report suggested that former President Barack Obama continued to shape White House policy through alumni of his administration embedded in Biden’s team. Critics argued that Biden, far from leading decisively, was surrounded by advisors effectively running the show.
More recently, Axios reporter Alex Thompson made similar claims on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” asserting that a core group of loyalists — including Bernal, First Lady Jill Biden, longtime Biden aides Mike Donilon, Steve Ricchetti, Bruce Reed, and Annie Tomasini — held the most influence over the president’s daily agenda. “Those are the people that saw him the most and that had the most control over what he was doing and his day-to-day,” Thompson said.
Thompson, along with CNN anchor Jake Tapper, recently co-authored a book titled The Original Sin, which accuses mainstream media outlets of actively downplaying and suppressing early evidence of President Biden’s mental and cognitive decline. The book outlines how key journalists and editors prioritized political outcomes over transparency, creating what the authors describe as a “protective press bubble” around the president. It claims that for years, reporters ignored red flags out of fear of aiding Biden’s political opponents.
Bernal’s name has appeared in photographs with both President Biden and the First Lady during official travel and events, yet his role has drawn little scrutiny from mainstream media until now.
In the wake of the 2024 election, concerns about who really ran the previous administration persist, and the Project Veritas video is likely to add fuel to the ongoing debate over transparency and accountability.

With all the money spent on the F35 we could have bought ALL of the much better F22s we ever wanted. The F22 is still more capable than the F35, and is used where the AF does not have confidence that the F35 can do the job. Upgrade the F22 and buy them in quantity.
Jill was not ‘ elected’. Neither was anyone who pulled off these crimes. They stole the election!
