Warnock’s Church Set to Evict Vietnam Vet – Who Paid His Past-Due Rent

-

Reverend and U.S. Sen. 's church is poised to evict an American hero over past-due rent.

While providing Warnock with a $7,417 monthly housing stipend, is less charitable to the disadvantaged residents at Columbia Tower at MLK Village, a run-down apartment complex.

Ebenezer Baptist owns 99% of the building. The church recently partnered with corporate landlord Columbia Residential, a prolific eviction filer, to manage the property.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the church filed numerous eviction lawsuits at the property, which was reportedly established to house the “chronically homeless” and people with “mental disabilities.”

Some tenants have been evicted for as little as $28.55 in past-due rent.

Now, a Vietnam combat veteran is poised to join their ranks. Even though his past-due rent has been paid.

The Washington Free Beacon further reports:

Columbia Residential, which manages Ebenezer Baptist Church's low-income apartment building in Atlanta, served a dispossessory notice to Phillip White on Sept. 20 for $192 in unpaid rent. White, an African-American Marine veteran who served two combat tours in Vietnam, provided money order receipts to the Free Beacon on Thursday showing he made a $542 rent payment on Nov. 2. But Columbia Residential hasn't filed a motion to dismiss its case, indicating it still intends to evict White.

It's not clear why Columbia's dispossessory notice against White remains open following his Nov. 2 rent payment. Warnock said in October that no one had been evicted from his church's property, a claim undermined by court records showing that authorities have carried out two court-ordered writs of possession against residents since the start of the pandemic.

White said he expects the building to resume evictions after Warnock is clear of his Dec. 6 runoff election against Republican .

“He said there would be no evictions,” White, 69, said. “He knew that was a lie. What he was really saying is there would be no evictions until after the election.”

American Liberty News previously covered Herschel Walker's response:

One resident summed up his experience living there thusly: “They treat me like a piece of s—.”

In response to the startling revelations, Georgia Republican Senate nominee Herschel Walker is offering to pay for anyone in the building with past-due rent.

  1. Warnock is a fraud…..a heartless, selfish, greedy fraud. He doesn’t give a hoot for anyone as long as he gets his $$$. Doesn’t Georgia have any rental rules at all that protect tenants from soulless landlords. Rent of course should be paid, but a landlord needs to show a bit of heart, of compassion for those who are having a rough time…..mostly due to the policies of Warnock and his ilk. And…this guy is a Pastor….a Reverend?? With a Church??? What goes on inside that “church”???

  2. This guy is a loser. Hopefully the People of Ga will look carefully at what is going on and vote accordingly to benefit the population
