Arizona Democratic Sen. Ruben Gallego is launching an effort to challenge a new Trump Administration immigration policy that could require many green card applicants to leave the United States and complete the process abroad.

According to a report from The Hill, Gallego is not only seeking to overturn the policy itself but is also pursuing a procedural strategy that could make it easier for Congress to reverse the change.

The dispute revolves around a recent U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) policy affecting how certain immigrants obtain lawful permanent residency.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt criticized The New York Times and its White House correspondent Katie Rogers on Tuesday, accusing the outlet of fabricating concerns about President Donald Trump’s cognitive and physical condition while previously defending President Joe Biden after his widely publicized fall on the steps of Air Force One in 2021.

The Times article in question — Signs of Fatigue: Trump Faces Realities of Aging in Office, co-written by Rogers and Dylan Freedman — argued that Trump, now 79, has appeared more tired, has held fewer public events, and on one occasion appeared to doze off during an event regarding weight-loss drugs. Leavitt forcefully rejected the premise, dismissing the claims as baseless and politically motivated.

Leavitt: “Unequivocally False”

“I will point out one fake news story… from The New York Times that took about one-third of the president’s daily calendar and his daily schedule and said he’s doing less than he did in his first term, or he might not be fit for the job,” Leavitt said during Tuesday’s press briefing. “That is unequivocally false.”

Leavitt noted that the story was authored by the same reporter who defended Biden’s cognition after he fell multiple times while climbing the stairs of Air Force One in March 2021.

“Oh, same outlet, same reporter who wrote that President Trump is not fit for the job. Are you kidding me?” she continued. “You all see him almost every single day. He is the most accessible president in history.”

Flashback to 2021: “Biden Is Doing 100 Percent Fine”

Under Rogers’ byline in 2021, the Times published the headline, “Biden ‘Doing 100 Percent Fine’ After Tripping While Boarding Air Force One,” citing then-Deputy Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, who blamed the incident on strong winds.

“It’s pretty windy outside,” Jean-Pierre said at the time. “It’s very windy. I almost fell coming up the steps myself. He is doing 100 percent fine.”

For Leavitt, that earlier coverage delegitimizes Rogers’ current reporting on Trump’s health.

“The Times and its reporter lost any credibility to discuss a president’s health after pushing that headline,” Leavitt said.

White House: Trump Is in “Excellent Health”

In response to insinuations that Trump is concealing medical information, Leavitt noted that the president’s medical team has released three detailed health reports since he took office.

She also disclosed that Trump underwent a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan in October, which showed he is “in excellent health.”

Following his annual physical in April, Trump’s physician concluded that the president “exhibits cognitive and physical health.”

NYT Claims Trump Is Slowing Down; White House Calls It Fiction

The Times story argued that Trump keeps a shorter public schedule compared to his first term and referenced a moment in early November when he appeared to briefly nod off while seated at his desk. The article also suggested the White House has withheld details about certain procedures.

Leavitt dismissed these points outright.

“You all see the president with your own eyes every single day,” she told reporters. “He is absolutely fit for the job.”

We see how hard President Trump works. He deserves a nap once in a while without skanky comments ! Articles about him should speak about how amazingly vigorous he is for his age. He deserves praise and encouragement.
