ISIS-Linked Terrorists In The US: Concerns Raised By House Intelligence Chair

Ohio Republican Mike Turner, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, sounded the alarm in a Sunday interview, claiming that individuals affiliated with ISIS have entered the United States illegally via the southern border. Turner’s remarks were made during his appearance on CBS News’ Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan, where he addressed heightened national security risks following a recent ISIS-linked terrorist attack in New Orleans.

Turner emphasized that the threat is not speculative. “There are individuals that are affiliated with ISIS and terrorist groups and organizations that have crossed the border, that are inside the United States,” he stated. Referencing testimony from FBI Director Christopher Wray, Turner affirmed, “FBI Director Wray has said so. We certainly have intelligence that says so. I agree with his assessment.” He further elaborated that these individuals are actively working with ISIS and harbor intentions of harming Americans.

Turner identified two primary categories of terrorist threats facing the U.S.: individuals radicalized domestically via online channels and foreign operatives who enter the country despite their known affiliations with extremist groups.

“We do not know where they are,” Turner admitted to Brennan, underscoring the urgency of the situation. He highlighted Wray’s warnings as a call to action, stressing the importance of locating these individuals to safeguard the public.

Turner pledged that the Trump administration would immediately start the process of locating the terrorists, as reported by the Washington Examiner:

President-elect Donald Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) have both blamed the Biden administration’s inaction in securing the southern border for the recent terrorist attack that occurred in New Orleans which killed over a dozen people and injured another 35. The incoming president made securing the southern border a major focus of his campaign, with incoming border czar Tom Homan warning illegal immigrants they will be “going home” soon.

Following the terrorist attack in New Orleans, President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden will visit the city on Monday. Biden stated in an address delivered on New Year’s Day that the U.S. would “relentlessly pursue ISIS and other terrorist organizations where they are, and they’ll find no safe harbor here.”

Turner appeared on the Sunday morning news program alongside Rep. Jim Himes (D-Conn.), the ranking member of the Intelligence Committee.

Biden stated…that the U.S. would “relentlessly pursue ISIS and other terrorist organizations where they are, and they’ll find no safe harbor here.”

They have already found a safe harbor here and in Afghanistan thanks to the Democrats during the Biden Administration. They love to pretend they weren’t the cause of disasters like this, but they are!
