Russia Blames Ukraine for Deadly Car Bombing – Claims to Have ID’d Killer

-

The Russian (FSB) is accusing of planting an explosive device underneath 's Toyota Land Cruiser. Dugin, an ultra-nationalist philosopher, is believed to have shaped 's expansionist foreign policy. (RELATED: Is Russia Already a Chinese Vassal State?)

At the last moment, Dugin chose to ride in a separate vehicle. His daughter, , a well-known supporter of the Putin regime in her own right, entered the SUV moments before an explosion turned it into a flaming hulk.

It's unclear if the intended target was Dugin, Dugina or both. Calls for revenge came out of Russia almost immediately.

USA Today reports:

“Kyiv will shudder” said a headline on Russia's Tsargrad.tv website, while state-run RT editor Margarita Simonyan retweeted a call to bomb the Ukrainian intelligence agency headquarters in Kyiv.

“Decision-making centers! Decision-making centers!! Decision making centers!!!” she said in a Telegram post.

President Putin broke his silence on Monday, offering “sincere condolences” for what he called a “vile, cruel .”

Earlier today, a family friend shared a statement from Mr. Dugin, who attributed his daughter's death to “a terrorist act by the Ukrainian Nazi regime.” The Kremlin and its surrogates baselessly claim Russia is fighting to denazify Ukraine to justify the invasion.

The FSB also said that they'd identified a primary suspect, a Ukrainian woman who moved to Russia in July and rented an apartment in the same building as Dugina. Russian investigators say that she plotted the attack for over a month as a special services contractor. Authorities added that she fled to Estonia following Saturday's attack. Ukraine denied all of the allegations, as BBC News notes:

An adviser to Ukraine's President Zelensky, Mykhailo Podolyak, said the FSB's version of events was “Russian propaganda” from “a fictional world”.

The FSB later released video of the accused's car entering Russia, security footage of her entering what is said to be Ms Dugina's building, and leaving Russia.

  1. Though it is possible, it is also possible that Russia has other enemies. And Russia has been known to lie so it’s slightly possible that Russia/Putin sacrificed it’s/his own supporter to give Ukraine a ‘black eye’ so some/all of the sanctions would be lifted.

  2. If Russia starts bombing Kyiv then Ukraine needs to return fire in kind. Start blowing up things close to the border and then start moving inland. Putin knows he’s losing his little war so he needs to do something to get the Russians back on his side. It’s not so far fetched that he would have that vehicle destroyed just for the bump in approval from his countrymen.
