Imane Khelif Files Cyberbullying Lawsuit Naming Donald Trump, Elon Musk & JK Rowling

Good morning.

Congress is mounting its strongest challenge yet to President Trump’s Iran War, federal prosecutors have unveiled a sanctions-evasion case tied to Iran’s nuclear program, and investigators in Washington, D.C., are digging deeper into allegations that police officials manipulated crime statistics.

The House of Representatives voted Wednesday to approve a war powers resolution to limit unauthorized American military involvement in Iran.

Sponsored by Rep. Gregory Meeks of New York, the measure would require the White House.

Algerian boxer Imane Khelif is filing a cyberbullying lawsuit with no outlined defendants, but naming Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and JK Rowling for their commentary on her highly controversial match at the 2024 Paris Olympics with Italian boxer Angela Carini.

The match lasted 46 seconds before Carini bowed out. The world-class athlete stated that she had never been so hard in her life.

Immediately after stepping into the ring, Khelif knocked out Carini, raising concerns about the boxer’s biological makeup and whether or not she should have been permitted to compete in the first place.

The Hill reports:

A criminal complaint filed this week to French authorities alleging “acts of aggravated cyber harassment” against Imane Khelif, the Algerian boxer and Olympic gold medalist whose gender identity was questioned at this year’s Paris Games, names influential figures including author J.K. Rowling and tech billionaire Elon Musk.

Khelif’s attorney, Nabil Boudi, confirmed to Variety on Tuesday that Rowling and Musk are mentioned in the complaint, filed Friday in Paris. The lawsuit does not identify any specific defendants, however, which Boudi said will ensure the prosecution “has all the latitude to be able to investigate against all people,” including individuals who may have posted hateful messages under pseudonyms.

Former President Trump will also be part of the investigation, he said. “Trump tweeted, so whether or not he is named in our lawsuit, he will inevitably be looked into as part of the prosecution,” Boudi said Tuesday. Boudi did not respond to The Hill’s requests for comment.

Conservative pundits, media personalities and lawmakers ignited a firestorm earlier this month over Khelif’s gender identity following resurfaced reports that Khelif and another Olympic boxer, Lin Yu‑ting of Taiwan, failed to meet an unspecified gender eligibility requirement at last year’s Women’s World Boxing Championships in New Delhi.

In 2023 the International Boxing Association conducted DNA tests on Khelif and Yu-ting, determining that both had XY chromosomes, making them ineligible to compete against women. The International Olympics Committee rejected their conclusion.

The only criteria the Olympics currently uses to verify gender is passport identification, and in a growing number of countries, passport applicants are able to choose their “sex” without any official or medical supporting documentation, ultimately leaving it up to feeling.

Khelif stated the following in light of the suit:

“I send a message to all the people of the world to uphold the Olympic principles and the Olympic Charter, to refrain from bullying all athletes, because this has effects, massive effects. It can destroy people, it can kill people’s thoughts, spirit and mind. It can divide people. And because of that, I ask them to refrain from bullying.”

While Khelif warns of the dangers of cyber bullying, female athletes and sympathetic activists have been warning of the dangers of biological men in women’s sports and spaces for years, as transgender inclusion continues to complicate women’s sports.
