Julia Roberts Sparks Controversy With Wildfire Comments: Did She Break Ranks With Democrats?

Julia Roberts, the Oscar-winning actress known for her iconic role in Pretty Woman, is facing renewed attention after making a provocative comment on social media about the ongoing Southern California wildfires.

In a recent Instagram post, Roberts expressed frustration at reports of looting in affluent neighborhoods affected by the fires. Her explicit message to looters—“F.U.”—has sparked heated debates online. The post also highlighted the devastation in Pacific Palisades, where the actress called for healing and assistance, adding, “We will get through this.” Roberts went on to promote a talent agency actively contributing financial aid to fire victims.

However, the actress’ sharp rebuke quickly caught the attention of social media users, who were quick to point out Roberts’ past political affiliations, as documented by Patriot Action Journal:

“Julia is a big supporter of CA Democrats and recently urged wives of male Trump voters to secretly vote for Kamala Harris,” noted conservative commentator Robby Starbuck. “The same CA Dems she supported are the ones who made looting so easy for so long.”

Wonder what changed? Perhaps it’s easier to support soft-on-crime policies from behind gates and security systems?

The situation has become so dire that Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman was forced to make a public statement.

“If you exploit this tragedy to prey on victims of these deadly fires, we will find you and we will prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law,” Hochman said.

The Southern California wildfires continue to wreak havoc across Los Angeles County, including the Palisades and Eaton fires. Together, these blazes have scorched over 40,000 acres, destroyed more than 12,000 structures, and claimed 27 lives, with 31 people still unaccounted for.

The backlash to Roberts’ comments comes amid scrutiny of her broader stance on public safety policies. Critics point to her decision not to endorse Proposition 36, a California ballot measure passed last year to impose stricter penalties on looting during natural disasters.

Roberts, who previously lived in Malibu, has since relocated with her husband, cinematographer Danny Moder, to San Francisco.

Have you ever considered your reporting non-essential? I mean if she issued a post what’s the need for you to comment on it or amplify any of the reactive comments? I’m sure your reporting is unnecessary to Roberts followers.
