The FBI secured two life sentences against convicted child predators in the same week for the first time in the history of an FBI field office, according to a report from The Daily Wire.

The two cases involved horrific crimes against children, including one predator who allegedly used an autism-focused nonprofit to gain access to vulnerable minors and another who ran a nationwide sextortion scheme targeting dozens of children.

FBI Director Kash Patel told The Daily Wire that the bureau has intensified its efforts against child exploitation.

PAUL’S DEFENSE BRIEF (PDB) – America’s next Sputnik moment is already here. Warnings about America’s declining space dominance have become a familiar refrain. Yet these concerns are not mere bureaucratic hand-wringing—they are real and demand immediate attention.

Nearly seven decades after the Soviet Union’s Sputnik launch jolted America into the space age, the U.S. finds itself at another critical juncture.

This time, however, the wake-up call isn’t a single blinking satellite but a series of escalating challenges that threaten the nation’s long-held supremacy in space.

Recent reports paint a sobering picture. One warns that the U.S. is “in danger of losing its privileged position in space,” while another highlights critical weaknesses in U.S. military space strategy.

Meanwhile, China’s rapid advancement in space technology and Russia’s increasingly aggressive actions—including testing anti-satellite weapons that created dangerous debris fields—signal new dangers.

These nations have developed sophisticated capabilities to disable or destroy U.S. space assets through means from cyberattacks to direct-ascent missiles.

America needs to WAKE UP to this existential threat before it’s too late.

FOR YOUR EYES ONLY – Here’s a roundup of today’s other top defense stories ending the week from conservative national security expert PAUL CRESPO.

Not the President’s Daily Brief, but almost as good – PAUL’S DEFENSE BRIEFING – the PDB:

NATIONAL SECURITY

The US should cut defense spending. Here’s how. The proposed 2025 Defense budget is $850 billion, and when Department of Energy funding for military nuclear programs is factored in, the total tops $895 billion. Yet, the Joint Chiefs of Staff say they can’t meet assigned missions without more money.

Military officials increasingly see big near-term possibilities in quantum sensors. Measuring the same kind of microscopic motion as atomic clocks, quantum magnetometers, gravitometers could help frontline forces navigate when GPS is jammed or hunt targets without conventional radar and sonar.

HOMELAND SECURITY

Northern Command announced on Monday that more than 600 soldiers and airmen will deploy to the southern border as part of the military’s ongoing operations to stem illegal immigration and drugs.

The military is sending approximately 40 Air Force intelligence analysts to beef up its surveillance of the southern border.

POLITICS

President Trump submits nomination of retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Dan “Razin” Caine as the next chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff with a four-star rank.

Civilian mariners and employees who work at the Navy’s public shipyards and maintenance entities are exempt from an ongoing hiring freeze across DOD.

Senate GOP-led bill would create congressional oversight and input from veterans groups before the VA fires more workers, which is expected to reach 80,000 by September.

PENTAGON WOKE WATCH

A liberal, openly lesbian, federal judge said Wednesday that she hopes to rule next week on whether to block Trump’s team from banning ‘transgender’ people from serving in the military.

SECDEF Hegseth on Wednesday ordered a “rapid” services-wide review of existing standards for physical fitness, body composition and grooming.

US POWER OVERSEAS

Green Berets in the Middle East looking for first-person view (FPV) drones to help them clear hostile cave complexes.

The 12th Marine Littoral Regiment welcomed a new unit that will soon wield the service’s first anti-ship missile defense system in Okinawa, Japan.

CHINA THREAT

China is expanding its presence and capabilities in the strategically vital geostationary belt, raising security concerns due to unpredictable satellite movements.

RUSSIA THREAT – UKRAINE WAR

US arms deliveries to Ukraine resumed Wednesday, officials said, a day after the Trump administration lifted its suspension of military aid for Kyiv.

Defense ministers from Europe’s five biggest powers said they’ll continue to support Ukraine in case of a ceasefire or peace deal with Russia, without going so far as to promise troops to secure an agreement.

Vladimir Putin made a surprise visit to Russia’s occupied Kursk region on Wednesday, as Trump says peace is ‘up to Russia now’.

Putin aide rejects Trump’s 30-day Ukraine ceasefire proposal.

Seven months after Ukraine captured Sudzha in the surprise invasion of Russia’s Kursk region, its hold on this key city appears to be nearing an end.

The UK has confirmed that it will have supplied Ukraine with tens of thousands of rounds of ammunition, thousands of drones, and a range of advanced weapons systems in the 2024-25 fiscal year, with much more planned for 2025-26.

Images show Ukraine turning tethered aerostat – or balloon – into an elevated platform for launching interceptor drones at incoming long-range kamikaze attack drones.

IRAN THREAT/ISRAEL WARS

The Iran-backed Houthi terrorists announced this week that they would attack any Israeli ship that sails in the vicinity of Yemen, including the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden and Bab al-Mandeb Strait.

Hamas welcomes Trump’s apparent retreat from his proposed permanent displacement of more than two million Palestinians from Gaza.

SPACE THREAT

The Space Force is scanning the commercial marketplace for space domain awareness capabilities to be part of a future proliferated constellation.

United Launch Alliance (ULA) space firm is positioning the Vulcan Centaur launch vehicle for future national security missions, including sneaking satellites past Chinese watching eyes, even as it waits for Space Force launch certification.

NEED MORE GUARDIANS – Leaders in charge of Space Force components embedded with combatant commands say their organizations are too small to engage with joint forces as needed. They highlighted the manpower and resource crunch they face as the Space Force’s mission and presence grows around the globe.

INTERNATIONAL SECURITY

Biggest threat since the Cold War. The UK must strengthen its air and missile defenses to counter a growing threat of up to 800 Russian missiles threatening critical military infrastructure.

Ecuador’s president has announced a “strategic alliance” with the Trump-supporting founder of the private military firm Blackwater, Erik Prince, to reinforce his controversial “war” on crime.

Philippines ex-president Duterte’s first night in a jail cell is a pivotal moment for the ICC.

US MILITARY

The Army wants to get the load combat soldiers carry down to 55 pounds since a lighter soldier can move (and fight) faster, is less likely to injure themselves, and has less gear to worry about losing.

The Army is looking for a new machine gun with longer reach chambered to fire the .338 Norma Magnum cartridge, but that can also be converted to use the same 6.8x51mm ammunition as its next-generation M7 rifles and M250 light machine guns.

This article, about the space race and emotions concerning said space race, reminds me of that movie, the original “The Day the Earth Stood Still”, with Michael Rennie and GORT as his police backup. Rennie called all the leaders of the world together and warned the world that if it can’t police its actions, the police force GORT belongs to will solve the problems “FOR THEM”. That earth is being watched and about to be invaded by alien police forces to calm everything down. Now, that was just a movie, and the remake with Keanu Reeves followed the original script, and even used the original GORT in the movie. But think about it. Russia, China, and the U.S. are in a volatile space race. What “IF” we are actually under that kind of scrutiny from outside forces that we don’t even know about. I repeat, that was just a movie, AND a remake of the original. But just think about it. Someone will make a snide remark, not keeping up with what’s going on right now between the three countries. It’s just a thought.

Lets look at the Defense budget and place it next to the Welfare Budget in the USA and see which we really need to trim. We can have a high welfare budged which will cease if we are take over by a more technically advanced nation who attacks us and wins. The opposing view is that we still secure our military might with a decent budget and trim the welfare budget by creating more industry so the workers earn a living rather than giving them subsistance and destroying their ability and desire to succeed. IN that case if attacked we win, our workers still have pride and win, and our nation wins. Welfare destroys the will to try, to excell, and to exceed over a period of time. Once you cross the multi-generation of welfare individuals feel that is there way to make a living. Perhaps we need a program which would encourage returnign to making a living instead of being given a living. Year one, give an applicant 100% of what they qualify for; Year 2, give them 75% of what they qualify for; Year 3, give them 50% of what they qualify for, Year 4 give them 25% of what they qualify for, and year 5 they are cut off for a period of 5 years from any welfare. Then while they are on welfare they must enter a trade school or higher learning school to learn a trade and be an asset to their community. If they fail to do that, their welfare is cut off. Simple and sweet.
