New Video Sheds Light on Capitol Hill Confrontation
Newly released video is providing a clearer look at a Capitol Hill confrontation that initially sparked calls for criminal charges after Rep. Anna Paulina Luna accused Code Pink co-founder Medea Benjamin of physically striking her during a heated exchange.
According to Mediaite, Luna alleged that Benjamin “smacked” her while confronting her outside a congressional office building. The Florida Republican subsequently called for criminal charges to be pursued.
Btw these are not “allegations”. It happened. My staff was there when it happened and wrote statements for LEO.

TMZ first published Luna’s account of the incident before later obtaining video footage supplied by Code Pink that captured the encounter from another angle. The footage quickly became the center of debate because it appears to show Benjamin only briefly brushing Luna’s arm while attempting to ask a question.

Following a review of the incident, Capitol Police declined to make an arrest.
Luna Says Activist Crossed the Line
Luna told TMZ that the confrontation escalated from a verbal disagreement into physical contact.
The congresswoman characterized the interaction as an assault and argued that political disputes should never become physical.
The incident arose during a confrontation with anti-war activists affiliated with Code Pink, an activist organization that frequently stages demonstrations on Capitol Hill and regularly targets lawmakers over U.S. foreign policy issues.
Video Appears to Show Brief Contact
Luna later wrote on social media that the Code Pink leader “smacked” her arm while she was leaving a House hearing where she had questioned Secretary of State Marco Rubio about the group’s alleged ties to the Chinese Communist Party.
She contacted Capitol Police, provided a statement, and called on House Speaker Mike Johnson to bar Code Pink from Capitol grounds.
I have asked the Speaker to ban Code Pink. I was just physically hit by their head organizer. This is right after I questioned Secretary Rubio about them. It is time Speaker Johnson ban them.

Video of the encounter released through TMZ shows Benjamin walking alongside Luna while questioning her about sanctions on Cuba. During the exchange, Benjamin’s hand appears to briefly make contact with Luna’s arm.
Capitol Police reviewed the footage and ultimately declined to arrest Benjamin.
Code Pink denied Luna’s characterization of the incident, stating publicly that no one struck the congresswoman. Benjamin was briefly detained by Capitol Police before being released without charges.
Funny how @RepLuna called the police to arrest me (they didn’t once they saw the video) because she said I touched her arm. 10 minutes later @RepMariaSalazar grabbed my face. I’m not complaining because she didn’t do it maliciously, I’m just pointing out the lunacy of @RepLuna pic.twitter.com/icDCZdHKH3

Political Fallout Continues
Regardless of whether the contact rises to the level of a criminal offense, the clash represents the latest example of tense encounters between lawmakers and activist groups on Capitol Hill.
Code Pink has long organized demonstrations opposing U.S. military involvement abroad, while Luna has emerged as one of the Republican Party’s more outspoken voices on foreign policy and national security issues.
The release of the video is likely to intensify scrutiny of the incident as lawmakers, activists, and observers continue debating whether the encounter crossed a line, even if authorities concluded it did not warrant criminal charges.
For now, the footage has provided a clearer picture of what occurred during the encounter. It has not, however, resolved broader questions about political civility and the increasingly confrontational nature of public discourse in American politics.
