New Poll Shows Just How Few Voters Care About The January 6 Probe

-

As the January 6 committee continues its kangaroo court of investigations and hearings, a new poll reported by Hot Air shows that only a third of voters will consider the January 6 committee probe when making up their minds about who to vote for in this year's midterm elections.

With the midterms rapidly approaching this November, many are wondering what will be some of the deciding issues that voters will care about. Many Democrats are attempting to make the January 6 hearings their defining moment by attempting to use televised hearings – including a prime-time launch – to engage voters in their deceitful narrative over the Capitol riot and “stop the steal” campaign.

According to a new poll out from Trafalgar, the impact of their efforts has been minimal at best.

More than six out of ten voters say the probe will have no impact at all on their midterm vote, and most respondents who said so also identified themselves as Democrats:

This poll was conducted with in conjunction with a conservative group, Convention of States Action, which has been trying to advance a proposal for an Article V convention to add constitutional amendments for a balanced budget and term limits for . COS is a longtime partner of Trafalgar's though, and the poll appears to have a solid methodology and a well-balanced sample.

These results line up with what Politico's Betsy Woodruff Swan hears from the House floor:

“Does the Jan. 6 hearing break through at all?” anchor Chuck Todd asked after he noted that shows most Republicans think truly believed there was widespread fraud in the 2020 election.

“I don't think it does. I've talked to two separate Democratic members of Congress in the last couple weeks about Jan. 6 — obviously, I can't say who — and both of them have said, offhandedly, nobody gives a bleep about Jan. 6 when they are talking about their districts and the way that elections play out,” she said.

Hot Air attributes this seeming indifference to voters being more focused on the crises in front of them than the crisis that's seventeen months in the rear-view mirror, and that turns out to be true across all demographics except Democrats. Even there, the response isn't particularly impressive, especially given the framing of the question:

Hot Air concludes that the January 6 hearings won't have any impact on the midterms. If anything, they exist to confirm choices for voters who were going to vote for Democrats already, or who want to acknowledge the awfulness of January 6 but also have other pressing priorities.

That doesn't mean that these hearings won't have an impact at all, though. It may well be that the effort will have more impact on the 2024 presidential cycle, especially in the Republican primaries.

If these hearings have no impact on November's elections, Democrats may decide that they really need to find a new message and a new set of policies to sell to voters rather than the regurgitation of twenty years of radical-progressive nanny-statism.

  1. When you open your article by referring to the hearings as a “kangaroo court” you’ve already tainted your reliability for honest journalism. Anyone who’s been watching the hearings has been inundated with evidence of Donald Trump‘s intentions to overturn the election with flagrant disregard for our constitution. I’m sure your audience of Trump supporters will pay more attention when the DOJ rightfully charges Trump with treason.

  2. Well, that’s the problem with “the little boy who cried ‘Wolf!'” scenario, isn’t it? After the first couple of kangaroo courts, people no longer listen. As it should be.

Let’s go, Brandon! Remember in November.

  3. the dems need to find something else now no one believes their lies and fake show they put on Trump did nothing wrong he was still giving his speech when the riot happened you dems put fake people in there to start the riot james sullivan for one and nancy wouldnt let the national gaurd come help

  4. J6 show for No Go.
    Rigged evidence
    No 1 cares now
Cities still suffer from 2020 riots
Lets do same to the Dems on J6

  5. Convention of States is run by a lying charlatan (Meckler) funded by dark money. If it succeeds, the resulting constitutional convention will be used by the predator class to throw our precious Constitution in the garbage and create a new one. Beware!

  6. “WOLF, WOLF”!!! Weren’t we all taught as a child about crying &lying!!! Do these morons actually think we believe their garbage?!

  7. Well, the wording does not exactly fit. I care not about the outcome, yet care I certainly DO. These DemonCratic traitors to genuine justice have opened a show trial based on ‘wordsmithing ‘insurrection’ where the accused have little-to-no right to defend themselves. Habeas corpus and the Geneva Convention do not apply to the poor victims. This kind of injustice was typical of the old Soviet Union and is perhaps typical of Dictator Putin’s Russia today. Alas for the USA!!
