A public interest law firm is suing the Department of Homeland Security for Secret Service travel records that may reveal whether President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden used taxpayer-funded flights to subsidize his personal overseas businesses.
Judicial Watch is seeking information on some of the 411 different domestic and overseas flights Hunter Biden took with then-Vice President Joe Biden at taxpayer expense between June 2009 and May 2014.
No explanation was provided why the vice president’s then-40-year-old son needed to travel with him at taxpayer expense and receive Secret Service protection 411 times in five years.
Many of those flights were to countries where Hunter Biden was pursuing personal business interests, including five taxpayer-funded flights to China.
Judicial Watch’s lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia after United States Secret Service, which is under DHS, failed to respond adequately to three separate FOIA requests in March and April 2022 for all records concerning the use of security and/or other services to Hunter Biden and any companions and all records concerning the use of U.S. government funds to provide security and/or any other services to Hunter Biden and any companions.
“The Secret Service is violating FOIA law by slow-rolling and hiding Hunter Biden records,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “What is the Secret Service trying to hide about Hunter Biden?”

“According to reports, then-Vice President Joe Biden and Hunter Biden flew on Air Force Two for an official trip to Beijing in December 2013,” Judicial Watch reports. “The records obtained by Judicial Watch from the Secret Service show Hunter Biden arrived in Tokyo on December 2, 2013, and departed for Beijing two days later.”
