Prosecutors in the murder trial of Karmelo Anthony reportedly dismissed several potential jurors after they expressed hesitation about convicting the teenager if it could send him to prison for life, despite the brutality of his crime.

Anthony is charged in the fatal stabbing of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf during a track meet in Frisco, Texas. He has claimed he acted in self-defense following an altercation over seating inside a team tent.

During jury selection, prosecutors questioned prospective jurors about whether Anthony’s age, race or resemblance to their own children would affect their.

In a major test of former President Trump’s political might, a number of key candidates secured major victories in Tuesday’s primaries. The results have sent Democrats into a panic as Republicans become poised to take back Congress in November.

Missouri:

Eric Schmitt – the state’s Attorney General – beat former Governor Eric Greitens and Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler as well as 18 other candidates in the Republican primary for Missouri’s open Senate seat. Republicans are now all but guaranteed to keep the U.S. senate seat in their hands in November. Greitens resigned from office due to allegations of sexual misconduct.

Mark McCloskey, who drew national attention in 2020 when he aimed his firearm at Black Live Matter protestors, only gained 3% of the vote in the primary contest, placing fifth in a field of 21 candidates.

Arizona:

The proxy war between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence wages on in Arizona as ballots continue to be counted in the state’s gubernatorial primary. According to Decision Desk HQ, Trump-backed candidate Kari Lake is currently ahead with 46.22% of the vote. However, Karrin Taylor Robinson who received endorsements from former VP Mike Pence and Governor Doug Ducey is trailing closely behind with 44.45% of the vote making it any woman’s race.

Early Wednesday, Lake declared a premature victory in Arizona, as it stands approximately 88% of ballots have been counted.

Michigan:

In Michigan, Trump managed to exact his revenge on another pro-impeachment Republican. Freshman Rep. Peter Meijer, one of the 10 House Republicans who vote to impeach Trump following the Jan. 6th Capitol riot conceded Wednesday morning to John Gibbs, the President’s former director of the Office of Personnel Management.

Tudor Dixon won in a chaotic Republican gubernatorial primary after five candidates were booted from the ballot. Dixon, who was just endorsed by Trump last week, won the Republican nomination with just over 40% of the vote and will now take on incumbent Gov. Gretchen Whitmer in the general.

Washington State:

Two members of congress from Washington state overcame challengers who wished to oust them from their seats over votes cast in favor of impeaching President Trump early in 2021.

Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Butler and Congressman Dan Newhouse both won their primaries, defeating opponents who aligned themselves as more conservative and Pro-Trump than the incumbents.

Kansas:

In Kansas, the pro-abortion movement secured a victory as the pro-life “value them both” constitutional amendment failed with 58.78% of voters going against the ballot measure.

Democrats, including President Biden himself, celebrated the result last night.

Liberals are painting this vote as a troubling sign for Republicans in the mid-terms, and hoping to use the overturning of Roe v Wade by the supreme court as a motivating issue for their voters.

Trump-endorsed Governor Derek Schmidt handily won the Republican nomination, securing 81.61% of the vote. Gov. Schmidt will face off against Democrat candidate Laura Kelly in November’s general election.

Fellow Trump-backed incumbent Senator Jerry Moran also easily won the GOP’s Senate endorsement, with 81% of the vote.

The “Squad” Survives:

Two members of the progressive “Squad” also managed to survive their primaries. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) fended off three primary challengers, winning 66.5% of the vote. In Missouri, Cori Bush secured 69.5% of the vote, easily defeating State Senator Steve Roberts.

Republicans better watch their step when it comes to Trump. They need to realize that the ” hate all things Trump ” feelings are wide spread and run deep throughout this country. He and his big mouth better learn to control what comes out of it, otherwise they will find that they failed to win a majority in either the house or the senate. I did vote for Trump in both 2016 and 2020 but his time has passed and we now need a candidate that pulls the party together, not divide it.

Kari Lake will win this nomination and the governorship! She would be a great governor! As long as Soros backed Katie Hobbs looses the demonrat nomination. We must keep Arizona red, wedo not need a demonrat Governor! Come on Arizona, get out the vote for Kari!
