Arizona Democratic Sen. Ruben Gallego is launching an effort to challenge a new Trump Administration immigration policy that could require many green card applicants to leave the United States and complete the process abroad.

According to a report from The Hill, Gallego is not only seeking to overturn the policy itself but is also pursuing a procedural strategy that could make it easier for Congress to reverse the change.

The dispute revolves around a recent U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) policy affecting how certain immigrants obtain lawful permanent residency.

WEDNESDAY PDB – Despite dangerous Obama-Biden attempts to reduce U.S. nuclear weapons capabilities, reality and America’s enemies keep getting in the way.

More and better nukes are needed for credible deterrence amid growing threats. (RELATED: Top US General Orders Troops To Prepare For The Unthinkable)

US projected to spend $117B on nuke command and control in next decade. This for operating, upgrading and maintaining the systems the U.S. Department of Defense relies upon to monitor, ready and launch devastating nuclear weapons.

Disturbing decline in global nuclear security, watchdog says. For the first time since it began in 2012, the Nuclear Threat Index has found that security had gotten worse rather than better.

FOR YOUR EYES ONLY – Here’s a roundup of today’s other top defense stories from conservative national security expert PAUL CRESPO.

Not the President’s Daily Brief, but almost as good – PAUL’S DAILY BRIEFING – the PDB:

PENTAGON WOKE WATCH

NO TAXPAYER-FUNDED ABORTION TRAVEL – Tuberville, Austin call fails to yield breakthrough on military holds. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) spoke on Tuesday but failed to make any progress on breaking the logjam of nearly 300 military promotions.

NOT FAR-RIGHT – JUST COMMONSENSE ANTI-WOKE CONSERVATIVE – ‘Toxic amendments’: Schumer prepares to fight ‘far-right’ proposals in Pentagon bill. The Senate’s version of the National Defense Authorization Act will be “a stark contrast to the bill that came out of the House,” he said. SURE HOPE NOT. (RELATED: Republicans Are Holding Their Ground And Winning On These Key Issues)

NATIONAL SECURITY

House Oversight Committee to hold UFO hearing next week. The hearing comes after Republican lawmakers have promised to look deeper into UAPs following unconfirmed claims from a former intelligence official that the U.S. military had allegedly found crashed alien spacecraft. (RELATED: Explosive UFO Retrieval Claims By Senate Intel Committee Vice Chair)

CHINA THREAT

Building the Taiwanese ‘porcupine’ an arsenal of shooting quills. The massive military exercises that China launched over the past year demonstrated that the military balance of power in the Taiwan Strait is trending steadily towards Beijing.

Two officers sat in a Nevada bar and planned, on a napkin, a new way of waging war in the Pacific. The Marine Corps is the smallest of the U.S. military branches. But its size—just 210,000 active and reserve personnel, compared to nearly a million in the U.S. Army—isn’t always a disadvantage. Not when it comes to deterring Chinese aggression in the Western Pacific.

CCP TOOL – Kissinger meets Chinese defense chief amid sanctions standoff. Former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger visited Beijing Tuesday to meet with Chinese Defense Minister Li Shangfu. (RELATED: Oh Henry!)

RUSSIA THREAT – UKRAINE WAR

Ukraine’s counteroffensive ‘slow’ and ‘steady’ but not a failure. Army Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, rejected the notion that Ukraine’s counteroffensive against Russian invaders is failing and insisted the attack is making slow progress.

Russia-Ukraine war: List of key events, day 511. Russia launched overnight air attacks on Ukraine’s south and east using drones and possibly ballistic missiles. The southern port of Odesa and the Mykolaiv, Donetsk, Kherson, Zaporizhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions were under threat of Russian drone attacks. Ukraine aims to sap Russia’s defenses, as US urges a decisive breakthrough. Ukraine is making limited advances recapturing Russian-held territory, but has yet to employ the larger-scale operations U.S. officials say could enable a breakthrough.

Russian command structure ‘confusing at best’ after Wagner mutiny. The Ukraine war “is going to be long, it’s going to be hard, it’s going to be bloody,” Joint Chiefs Chair Gen. Mark Milley predicted.

GOOD – EUROPE SHOULD DO MORE – EU plans 20B euro fund to stock Ukraine’s military for years. If approved, the move would cement an ideological sea change for the EU, a self-described peace project.

NORTH KOREA THREAT

IDIOT – LET HIM ROT – US soldier detained by North Korea after crossing border. A troublesome American soldier deliberately crossed the heavily armed border from South Korea into North Korea. (RELATED: US Soldier Makes Psychotic Decision – See Why)

North Korea fires 2 short-range missiles into the sea. Wednesday’s launches marked North Korea’s first ballistic activity since July 12.

US deploys nuclear-armed submarine to South Korea. The USS Kentucky arrived at the South Korean port of Busan on Tuesday afternoon.

SPACE THREAT

Launch of Air Force Research Lab navigation satellite delayed again. The Air Force Research Laboratory has pushed the launch of an experimental navigation satellite until next spring due to the delayed debut of United Launch Alliance’s Vulcan Centaur rocket.

INTERNATIONAL SECURITY

Smaller Marine forces to focus on short-term deployments in Middle East. Future Marine deployments to Middle East won’t look like the ones the service became known for during recent decades of war.

US, Philippines forces training in tandem as countries’ alliance expands. U.S. forces are back in the Philippines for another round of joint exercises with their Filipino counterparts as Washington and Manilla expand cooperation.

UK’s updated defense plan seeks force changes based on Ukraine war. Ukraine has become an “incubator” for warfighting, and Britain must rapidly heed lessons learned if it’s to remain a credible force.

HOMELAND SECURITY

NOT GOOD – BUT STOP MAKING THE DANGEROUS ILLEGAL CROSSING ATTEMPTS – Texas trooper’s email describes migrant injuries at southern border. Texas state police troopers and National Guard members patrolling the border with Mexico were ordered to deny water to people at a time when temperatures surpassed 100 degrees, according to a trooper airing his concerns to his superior. (RELATED: State Asks Taxpayers To Resolve Migrant Crisis, All You Have To Do Is…)

This soldier ‘used his body as a shield’ to stop a violent assault. A junior enlisted soldier stationed at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii will receive the Soldier’s Medal on Wednesday afternoon for intervening in a violent assault.

US MILITARY

The US Army expects to end up 15,000 recruits short this year. The children of military families make up the majority of new recruits in the U.S. military. AND MANY OF THEM NO LONGER WANT TO JOIN. (RELATED: Radical Army Leader Mercilessly Drops Bombshell Amid Historic Struggle)

Here’s how the Senate wants to boost military recruitment. Proposals include an Enlisted Training Corps that would mirror the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps units that have existed for more than 100 years.

Bill to protect veterans’ gun rights prompts heated debate in House. GOP lawmakers accused Veterans Affairs leaders of depriving some veterans of their right to own firearms and promised changes, but Democrats say those proposed moves could lead to more suicides among vulnerable veterans.

POLITICS

EVEN WHEN HE IS BEING INDICTED, TRUMP TAKES ALL THE OXYGEN OUT OF ROOM – Trump and his legal woes overshadow DeSantis as he rolls out military policy plan in South Carolina. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis held a brief news conference Tuesday as part of a shift in strategy for his presidential campaign, but the governor took only four questions, almost all of which were about Donald Trump.
