Liz Cheney appears to have brought together some unlikely allies in a last-ditch effort to revive her political fortunes.
And there’s an outside chance it could work. Stranger things have certainly happened.
Democrats and anti-Trump Republicans appear to have coalesced to save her seat in deep red Wyoming. According to CNN, several prominent establishment Republicans attended a recent fundraiser for Cheney in Virginia, including Utah Sen. Mitt Romney, Bush administration Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff, Scooter Libby (former chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney), businesswoman and politician Carly Fiorina, Bush administration Solicitor General Ted Olson and attorney Miguel Estrada, among others.
Although there’s been scant public polling of her primary campaign against Trump-backed candidate Harriet Hageman, it’s apparent that Republicans in Wyoming — which voted for Trump over Joe Biden by a greater than two-to-one margin in 2020 — have turned against Cheney en masse since Jan. 6, 2021. Nor are they shy about sharing their frustration. According to Politico, a band of Trump loyalists plan to attend a bipartisan panel on defending the integrity of our elections, which Cheney is slated to appear at. In fact, they’ve snatched up roughly one-quarter of the 350 tickets just to give the embattled congresswoman a piece of their minds.
Obviously, she’ll need a sizable minority of Republicans to link arms with Democrats to pull off what now can only be described as an upset.
Cheney is even having an effect on her father’s popularity in the Cowboy State.
But Hot Air blogger Allahpundit explains why Cheney might still have a chance:
One progressive in Wyoming who helped organize Democrats for a moderate Republican in 2018 told Politico that he thinks Cheney has a shot if MAGA candidate Anthony Bouchard refuses to drop out of the race. Bouchard jumped in early, hoping to earn Trump’s endorsement, but that ultimately went to Harriet Hageman. Hageman will doubtless get most of the Republican vote. But if Bouchard hangs in there and cuts her margins, there might be enough left over between moderate Republicans and party-switching Dems to put Cheney over the top.
I find it impossible to believe Bouchard won’t quit, though. If he ignores Trump’s pleas to withdraw and ends up facilitating a Cheney upset, MAGA will hate him. He’d be known forever as the man who sent Trump’s fiercest critic back to Congress.
While it’s clear that this is a long shot by any stretch, it’s not impossible to imagine Bouchard stubbornly remaining in the race or another unforeseen circumstance saving Cheney.

I’m not happy about her siding with the democrats but the republicans better start waking up to the fact that there are millions of people across the country that hate Trump and all he stands for. That hate just might reach down to both the house and senate candidates running for those offices. Right now Trump is poison for the republican party.
I’m in Wyoming and things are not looking good for Liz. From what I am hearing voters here do not like Hagenan but they will vote for her just to get rid of Liz. There is a huge amount of Democrat money pouring into the warchest of Liz, however there’s a good chance Liz is finished in the Republican party.
