According to Mediaite’s Phillip Nieto, the Oscar winner will produce and host a series entitled “Martin Scorsese Presents: The Saints,” a docudrama about the most iconic Christian saints for Fox Nation, Fox News’ subscription streaming service. The program will center on the lives of eight saints, including Joan of Arc, John the Baptist, Mary Magdalene and Francis of Assisi:
Moreover, Scorsese will appear on camera interviewing experts about the saints along with narrating re-enactments of their lives. The series will begin airing on November 16th with the release of four episodes, while the remaining four will be released in May 2025. Every one-hour episode will focus on the reported deeds and sacrifices of each saint.
The series, created by Matti Leshem, will be directed by Elizabeth Chomko and written by Kent Jones.
“I’ve lived with the stories of the saints for most of my life, thinking about their words and actions, imagining the worlds they inhabited, the choices they faced, the examples they set,” Scorsese announced.
“These are stories of eight very different men and women, each of them living through vastly different periods of history and struggling to follow the way of love revealed to them and to us by Jesus’ words in the gospels. Scorsese, 81, is renowned for his critically acclaimed gangster movies and gritty, character-drive dramas. His filmography spans over 50 years and includes some of the highest-rated films of all time, including “Taxi Driver,” “Raging Bull” and “Goodfellas.”
Scorsese has received Best Picture and/or Best Director nominations for the following films, in addition to winning Best Picture for 2006’s “The Departed”: “Raging Bull,” “The Last Temptation of Christ,” “Goodfellas,” “Gangs of New York,” “The Aviator,” “Hugo,” “The Wolf of Wall Street,” “The Irishman” and “Killers of the Flower Moon.”
He is the most recent high-profile celebrity to collaborate with Fox News Media. The conservative juggernaut has already partnered with Kevin Costner, Dennis Quaid and Dan Aykroyd on various projects.
