On Saturday, Alex Jones, known for his far-right conspiracy theories, claimed that the federal government was attempting to raid his InfoWars studio and shut it down.
This claim comes nearly two years after a Connecticut jury ruled that Jones must pay $965 million for spreading misinformation about the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, which he falsely claimed was a staged event and that the parents of the victims were “crisis actors.”

Newsweek has more on what Jones’ described as an “emergency broadcast” from Austin, Texas:
“This is going to be Infowars’ last show, because I learned yesterday that they were going to padlock the door and kick us out last night,” Jones said while on Infowars on Saturday.
On the same day, Friday, May 31, the news outlet published an article saying it might be shut down in 48 hours.
Newsweek contacted Infowars by email on Sunday morning for comment and any evidence of the alleged attempt to shut down the company’s studios.
Jones said that he spotted “guards looking at me weird” at the entrance of the Infowars building and believed that his company was going to be shut down.
“I went with my instinct[…]and discovered this plan to shut us down,” Jones remarked, referencing his purported interaction with the “guards.”
“I discovered this and a bunch of other stuff that I haven’t released yet,” Jones added. The host proceeded to claim that he all the evidence necessary to prove the government was determined to shut down his studio, saying that he spent the night there to keep that from happening.
“There’s a 50 percent chance this is happening right now,” Jones posted to X at one point on Saturday.
Jones claimed that the government want “us shut down” because of the bankruptcy situation following legal judgments against him. The host maintained that he has a path to continue to appeal for years as indicated by the judge. However, he continued, “different groups involved in the bankruptcy that will be exposed soon have literally made a move to shut this place down and end my show.”
According to court documents, the families of Sandy Hook children and teachers offered Jones a “way out of bankruptcy” if he pays them $85 million of the more than $1 billion he owes in damages.
Jones eventually broke down in tears during the stream: “We’re going to beat these people. I’m not trying to be dramatic, but it’s been a hard fight.”
