City Chooses Pride Flag Over Thin Blue Line Flag For Slain Officer

ANALYSIS – Unbelievable disgrace. This is why voting correctly at the local level matters. A Connecticut town refused to fly the thin blue line flag for a state trooper killed in the line of duty.

The Wetherford town council voted 5-3 against flying the flag, a symbol used to support cops since 2014. Democrats called the flag racist.

Instead, leftist Democrat town disgracefully flew the LGBT flag at half-mast for a day at the Pride ceremony at Wethersfield Town Hall, since it is already flying for the month of June.

As one member of X asked: “Can someone explain to me like I’m 5, how the pride flag honors the fallen officer who was not part of the LGBTQ community?”

Nine-year veteran, Aaron Pelletier, Trooper First Class, was killed last week by a suspect high on cocaine and fentanyl who struck the trooper while conducting a routine traffic stop on a state highway. He leaves behind wife Dominique Pelletier and two young sons Troy and Zachary. (RELATED: Delivery Worker Jumps Out Of Car, Opens Fire On Police)

The Daily Mail reported:

Emily Zambrello, a Democrat member of the council said of the Thin Blue Line flag: ‘That flag was either created or at least became prevalent in direct response to the BlackLivesMatter protests, which were fueled in part by the killing of George Floyd by police.

‘It’s viewed as antagonistic even if you don’t see it that way and I don’t think that’s a good flag to fly, especially not without further discussion.’

Fellow councilmember Brianna Timbro, a Republican, argued that the Thin Blue Line flag existed well before the Black Lives Matter riots – which erupted in 2020.

The suspect, a convicted murderer, Alex Oyola-Sanchez, 44, has been charged with second degree manslaughter with a motor vehicle, operating while intoxicated, as well as operating a motor vehicle without minimum insurance, failure to drive in the proper lane, and evading responsibility resulting in death.

So, why isn’t this a case of at least second degree MURDER?

Oyola-Sanchez is being held on a $5million bond. He should never have been on the streets in the first place. The animal had previously served a federal sentence for murder and was arrested for homicide in Puerto Rico. (RELATED: Trump’s Plan To Quickly Address Biden’s Border Crisis)

Meanwhile, some Wethersfield residents expressed their discontent with the council’s decision by commenting on the town’s Facebook page.

“What disgusting behavior! The people who voted to not fly the blue line flag are hopefully voted out of office. When it comes time to vote, remember this,” wrote Sheila Bekker Ierardi.

“They approve a sex flag but deny a police flag honoring a murdered Trooper. Shameful and Disgusting,” wrote Bob Smith.

A GoFundMe for Pelletier’s wife and children has raised nearly $575,000.

The trooper’s service was preceded by a 20-mile-long procession from a funeral home in Southington to the Hartford amphitheater where the service was held.

Photos show that Pelletier’s casket was escorted by dozens of police motorcycles and cars. Fire trucks also flew American flags along the route.

In an emotional speech at her husband’s memorial on Wednesday, Dominique Pelletier called him a “man of integrity and honor.”

“I will make sure our children always know those traits definitely came from him,” she added.
