Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) has pledged to sign constitutional carry into law.
As soon as the state legislature passes it.

Florida @GovRonDeSantis this a.m. promised to sign constitutional carry – a measure that would let people carry guns openly in the state – into law "before I am done as governor." Not sure when it will happen – maybe in May session, maybe in six months, but vows it will happen

State Rep. Anthony Sabatini (R-Howey-in-the Hills) filed legislation last month (for the third consecutive year) to bring open carry to Florida. DeSantis’ announcement brings Sabatini’s long-sought-after proposal one step closer to reality.
Sabatini’s legislation, HB 103 – Carrying of Firearms Without Licenses, has already earned the endorsement of the National Rifle Association (NRA) and Gun Owners of America (GOA).
It also bolsters Sabatini’s conservative bona fides as he’s running for Congress in the newly-redrawn, GOP-leaning 7th Congressional District.
HUGE NEWS—@GovRonDeSantis announced today that he is ALL IN for Constitutional Carry!

For 3 years, Anti-2A RINOs in the Legislature have BLOCKED my Constitutional Carry Bill
& so-called “republican” Senators REFUSED to file it, calling it “controversial”
THANK YOU DeSantis! 🇺🇸
Following DeSantis’ announcement, conservative commentator Gabriella Hoffman engaged in a respectful, but assertive back-and-forth on Twitter with Fred Gutenberg, parent of a victim of the Parkland shooting.
Let's be clear. There is no such thing as Constitutional carry. It is a marketing term for weak feckless people like Desantis to avoid saying permitless open carry. Ron, grab yourself by the testicles and be prepared for me. https://t.co/D4pXfjMsYK

Fact check: False
— Gabriella Hoffman (@Gabby_Hoffman) May 1, 2022
25 states — half the U.S.— now have constitutional carry. https://t.co/N4NF3FRtbP
As Hoffman accurately said, 25 states currently have constitutional carry. The governors of Indiana, Alabama and Georgia have signed legislation similar to what Florida lawmakers are working on right now.
FACT CHECK – THOSE STATES HAVE PERMITLESS OPEN CARRY. CALLING IT CONSTITUTIONAL CARRY IS A MADE UP MARKETING TERM TO MAKE IT SOUND LESS DANGEROUS. https://t.co/x6xBxo6PQo
— Fred Guttenberg (@fred_guttenberg) May 1, 2022
Constitutional carry is permitless concealed carry pertaining to handguns, not open carrying of long rifles. I read the bills that passed spelling out the definition. Did you? You, sir, are intentionally misleading the public by making it more dangerous than it is. https://t.co/VfP3NVOCGX

The 2A is a GOD given, CONSTITUTIONALLY guaranteed right. And Florida will be the 26th State. So sorry chairman Xi den. You lose again.
Desantes : QUIT PLEDGING AND SIGN THE DAMN BILL ALREADY !!!!
“Constitutional carry” is a good idea and should be nationwide. There’s a situation however that could develop. People that are not paying attention to their surroundings and are carrying open may find themselves in the situation where their gun is taken out of their holster by a “bad guy” or guys. All of a sudden it’s an uh oh moment and the bad guy has your gun. I suggest concealed carry would be a safer alternative.
