Donald J. Trump is making waves once again. This Wednesday afternoon, Trump will be gracing the National Association of Black Journalists Annual Convention and Career Fair with his one-of-a-kind presence.
A Powerhouse Panel
The Chicago event is expected to be enlightening, with Trump answering questions from a prominent panel of Black journalists before taking questions from other reporters. The onstage discussion will feature:
- Fox News anchor Harris Faulkner
- ABC News senior congressional correspondent Rachel Scott
- Semafor political reporter Kadia Goba
Stirring the Pot
In classic Trump fashion, he's already stirring the pot. Before hitting the stage, Trump couldn't resist poking at Vice President Kamala Harris. He predicted she'd feel the pressure and show up at the convention, too.
“Crazy Kamala disrespectfully refused to attend the National Association of Black Journalists Conference, but I am on my way to meet with them now in Chicago,” Trump shared. “Because of which, she'll probably end up doing, she has no choice, but remember it is only for that reason!”
Fun Facts to Chew On
Trump received 8% of the Black vote in 2016, which rose to 12% in 2020. By comparison, in 2012 Mitt Romney received 6% of the Black vote while John McCain secured about 4% in 2008.
As for the 2024 presidential surveys, the results are varied. Some indicate that Trump's support remains around 12%, while others suggest it could be as high as 30%.
