A top federal appeals court has denied former President Trump's latest legal challenge.
Trump lost an attempt to keep his 2015-20 tax returns and those of his businesses from being released to the U.S. House's Ways and Means Committee.
The denial by the Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit makes it likely that Trump will appeal to the Supreme Court to keep congressional Democrats from reviewing his financial records as much as possible.
While Trump has the option to appeal the ruling, the panel of three judges unanimously denied Trump's request to keep his financial records out of the hands of Democrats until the Supreme Court issues a ruling on the matter.

The Ways and Means Committee first asked the Treasury Department in 2019 for Trump's income tax returns and those of the Donald J. Trump Revocable Trust and seven limited liability companies, one of which does business as Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey. Trump was president at the time.
Trump as both a Republican candidate for president and as president broke decades of tradition by refusing to publicly release his tax returns.
A federal judge last December dismissed the former president's challenge to the House committee obtaining his tax records from the Treasury Department as part of an inquiry into how the IRS audits presidential income tax returns.
In its ruling in August rejecting the challenge to that order, the three-judge D.C. circuit appeals court panel noted that while tax returns are generally confidential under federal law, when the Ways and Means Committee chair requests such returns in writing from the Treasury Department that guidance doesn't apply.
Ways and Means Committee chairman Rep. Richard Neal, D-Mass., released a statement following the ruling, saying in part that Trump “tried to delay the inevitable, but once again, the Court has affirmed the strength of our position.”
“We've waited long enough – we must begin our oversight of the IRS's mandatory presidential audit program as soon as possible,” Neal added.
Trump's attorneys have not yet responded to requests for comments.

I have to wonder exactly what is gained by releasing the tax returns. If a candidate or politician (like Pelosi) commits insider trading and conducts extralegal business deals, does anyone really think that they are going to claim these on their tax returns?

As a practical matter, is there anyone who DOESN’T think that if Congress gets their hands on these tax returns they’ll be selectively leaked to the press with all kinds of wild claims about Trump’s finances?
This is a crime, but based on past actions you can be assured this will happen and no one will be arrested—much less convicted.
President Trumps tax returns are his business just as yours or mine are our business. And once again, after years of trying to get this info, the dems will come up with egg on their faces and they will have nothing. I am sick of the never ending attempts to get Trump at any cost. There are real problems that need to be dealt with immediately and in todays WH.

I don’t know about others but I’m damn sick and tired of the kangaroo courts in this country. We USED to have a justice system but that’s no longer the case. The Fascists now running our country are absolutely terrified of Donald Trump and are doing all in their power to destroy him. He’s being singled out and punished for doing the right things when in the White House. Our nation is in deep trouble and could be attacked at any time. Instead of trying to ruin Trump for doing the RIGHT things those, including our dictator, Biden, those running our totalitarian government should be worrying about getting our national defense and national security back the way it was before they took over. That includes getting our southern border closed and making the U.S. a sovereign nation again.
If thats the case why not make it mandatory for all politician to disclose their tax info. The why it is now if the elected official is a treat or NOT liked by their political opponents they can be audited or investigated for tax evasion. Ridiculous!
