Independent Arizona Sen. Kyrsten Sinema announced on Tuesday afternoon that she will not run for reelection.
The development puts MAGA loyalist Kari Lake on the path to challenging progressive Democrat Ruben Gallego in November's general election.
Citing dysfunction in Washington and increasing political polarization, Sinema announced, “I will leave the Senate at the end of this year.” (RELATED: Big Name Enters Senate Race In Key State)
A far-left activist in her youth, Sinema won the 2018 Arizona U.S. Senate election as a moderate Democrat but later became an independent in 2022.
